So I thought this was some 80s slanguage, but I just heard the word on Skip Jackson's "I'm Onto You" saying "you think you're so fly girl.... I'm onto you" etc. How did this word originate?

    From the dictionary of slang:

    1. a policeman (various usages since mid-1800's)
    2. a wanton woman; a prostitute (brittish since late 1800's)
    3. to take narcotics habitually (US drug culture mid 1900's)
    4. to experience a high (US drug culture mid 1900's)

Ive heard FLY pertaining to woman on late 70's rekkids. But I/we used it for girls/kicks/gear/cars since '80/81.

By the way your fly is open.

then u got "superfly" threads on. predates the movie, by the way.
