LOAFTHE BAKER BROTHERS(Peddler Records)DJ SHEPDOG(Freestyle Records)Sunday 21st MayVibe bar, The Old Truman Brewery, 91-95 Brick Lane, London E1 6QLDescribed as "the Motorhead of funk" by Big Daddy Magazine and "tighter than a monkeys arse" by legendary deep funk DJ Keb Darge, The Baker Brothers are without a doubt Bournemouth's finest and funkiest export. Their debut singles on ARSE records turned heads worldwide due in no small part to their ability to lay down the rawest of breaks, funkin licks and catchy hooks. Their debut album "Ten Paces" established their tenacious style, capable of holding down a full album, but only goes a short way in illustrating the raw power they put across live.Following tours of Japan and the UK, alongside a critically acclaimed live album "In With The Out Crowd" the Brothers have slowly been honing their style and now step up with their brand new long player "Bakers Dozen". The grit and energy is still there, but a more refined style now pervades their sound. Featuring guest vocal appearances from London soul-stalwart Vanessa Freeman and spoken word maverick Nathan Johnson, the album takes in elements of jazz, soul and afro-beat.Having played alongside Jools Holland, DJ Cash Money, Peanut Butter Wolf, Coldcut, United Future Organisation, Jon Kennedy and the Quantic Soul Orchestra they are truly a force to be seen.check www.thebakerbrothers.com for soundclips, etcFREE ENTRYBand on stage 7pm
