The next lot was pretty trashed, a couple of EX ones, but mostly VG- to G+, KPMs were pressed real well, so the crackle is minimal and fine for sampling. This batch worked out being REALLY cheap overall. Anyone needs, holla.

Gwyneth Patrol on steroids?
A woman I work with & her husband brought in approx. 40 LPs for me yesterday. Most of it is going right to a thrift shop, but scored a copy of "Fats Domino presents Dave Bartholomew and his Great Big Band" LP. Two tracks on side 2 are great, thanks to the drumming of Joseph "Smokey" Johnson. I would almost label these 2 tracks funk, even though it is from '61. Arranged by Wardell Quezergue, too.
turd city skids for me, though on the real cheap side.
The intruders joints are killer though. Actually a lot of nice music this week already...enjoying most of them so far.
if anyone has any info on the :wizard folk: lp above please let me know...does it have a cover?

first time digging in a minute (whats up W**l)
this is maybe my best find yesterday...this was sealed, looked like some fast / random rap joint, popped it open and sure enough, it's some of the sickest hip-hop i've ever heard...no joke. it's over the George Kranz "din daa daa" rhythm and has some interpolations of Marshall Jefferson ("move your body....rock your body") and yet it's not hip-house...really dope. anybody know this?

Less than $25 with the black label. Never seen this color. Dope classic.

I'd consider you very lucky to get $25 for this record, it's common and not at all in demand.

I shipped a full uhaul box and a full 30 box, and brought the nicer stuff (~100-125 pieces) with me in a padded & wheeled record bag.
I've been moving a lot of old/b-team records from my parents house as they are getting ready to move, and every time I've put them through security, the guard has asked me about them, given a thumbs up, or something to that effect.

like a nice online dollar bin score, 5 cool LP comps of 60's rock & soul,
and the Sweet Salvation (soulful rock from 1972 on Elektra with 9 minute funk jam cover
of "Rock Steady") was sealed - whole thing was less than $7 incl S/H

The Leadbelly & the Jailhouse Blues are from a big collection I got tuesday. Still havn't finished going thru it all. More pictures to come when I get a chance.
when i was in ny a few years back i had grabbed about 20+ old Music City reels and wouldnt put them through the xray machine so i was pulled to the side. a few dudes came over and were like "what is this?" i explained... they were tripped out. ended up talking to five different security folk about NY Soul music in the 70s/80s. i got to buy records off of two of them after arriving back and talking to them on the phone. quite nice...
originally the piece was titled "Mannenberg"- the neighborhood were Ibrahim grew up in the Cape Flats which are indeed on the fringe of Capetown. It is a primarily "coloured" neighborhood as apartheid would have it and one with a larger muslim minority than most.
