if people dont know how to read that (i know some will ask what those numbers means...lol). Well, just focus on the last one. This is the cumulated sales. I just wanted to post that because T.I. and Ghost have been in constant rotation here (in my room tho'!!lol) and i'm surprised to see that the charts reflected my taste "for once"...

    I've been scratching my head recently over Chamillionaire's sales, currently at ~621K.

    I don't think he had much promotion, got off to a slow start and now seems to be selling consistently off of word of mouth. Except usually these word of mouth type sellers are actually, you know, good, and Cham's album was really weak. Are they playing a second or third single heavily in other markets or something?

    Both videos have gotten play on BET... I would be surprised at the sales too but I just read his page in the new XXL- he talks about how his sales are escalating, how he's already gone gold, etc

    I've heard the song with Krazie Bone on the radio in San Diego and Los Angeles, and I don't really listen to the radio THAT much. I also caught part of the video on Direct Effect the other day.

    Universal, and to a great extent Chamillionaire himself, have done an excellent job of positioning the album/singles in secondary and tertiary markets. Those singles spin in places you don't even think of (and the new one for obvious reasons is smashing the midwest). These citiesd may be out of sight and out of mind, but people still buy records there. As much as I found the album dissapointing, I cannot help but be impressed by the marketing plan: they haven't spent a fortune, they've utilized the internet (especially Myspace) effectively, and they've committed themselves to giving him a marketing push that lasts longer than the initial 3 weeks after release. I have one artist recently signed up there and another likely to join him, and Chamillionaire definitelty factored into that choice: despite all the flash surrounding other artists and labels, I think very few have shown a similar resolve in terms of breaking an artist. I hope I'm not proven wrong!

    I am disconnected from television.

    I've been watching his sales from week to week, though, and they either stay steady or go up.

    He and Juelz dropped their albums on the same day and four months later, his weekly sales are consistently 3x what Juelz' are. It's pretty interesting.

    facts : you can have a friend at Soundscan, an intern at def jam, or, like someone said above, you're a label. For me, it's #2 and #3. Also some people frequently leak the results on some forums. And i didnt remove the Whites, as stated above...lol. It just so happen that i used my "hip-hop filter"..! But wait, there's some Paul Wall, some Eminem. The quotas have been respected.

    D4L in the charts...man. How's that possible? People "snaped"...
