Anyone ever experience symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome as a result of too much djing and typing? For the past month, my right hand (which is my strong hand) has been feeling really tight and when i dj i can no longer do some of the basic hand movements for scratching with that hand. Also, when I try to do these movements, my hand feels even tighter and its almost like i can feel every bone tense up.I did some research on the internet and i made a doctor's appointment with a hand specialist. In the meantime, I think i'm gonna buy one of those gripmasters. Can anyone ease my fears on this? Is this common? I really think the typing/mouse movements played a bigger role in this as i only dj on fri and sat nights.

I haven't had any problems with it in a while, but I have cut back on those activities significantly. I've never had any issues with it DJing, but it has worried me for sure.
It sucks bad, but can be worked out. Good luck man,

i switched to one of these.
sabadabadoo!
I'm suffering with this right now, in my left hand. Too much typing, playing percussion, wading through LP's.......and I've had it for close to 2 months.
First things first......DO NOT buy a gripper. The bones are inflamed and exercising the area with a strength exerciser will just aggravate the injury even more.
You need to rest it, and have an ice water bowl bath 3 times a day. That is dip your hand in ice cold water for as long as you can stand it, and then stretch out your hand and wrist by slowly moving forwards, backwards and side to side.
It's a repetitive strain injury and the only way it'll get better is with rest. If all of this fails, then it's a trip to the Physio and ultrasound on the infected area.
I'm starting physio next week - 2 months gone and I still can't lift anything heavy. I can't even lift a beer without a severe twinge........
Word. A good massage therapist will work wonders. Also, stretch your wrists and fingers regularly.
thanks. it seemed illogical to use the gripmaster, i guess i will hold off on trying to strengthen my hand until it properly heals.
