    Whats the story on Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers?

    Canadian based showband who lucked into a contract with Motown's Gordy subsidiary and had a few hits, including 1968's interracial-coupling hit, "Does Your Mama Know About Me?" Taylor himself was interviewed for a recent issue of In The Basement magazine (great interview, EXCELLENT mag), and he alleges that the Vancouvers weren't allowed to play their own instruments on that first album. (Taylor's other Gordy album, Taylor Made Soul, was credited only to himself.)
