I haven't shipped a record in a minute. With a standard cardboard mailer (like the ones the labels use), about how much does a single sided lp weigh? How bout a double gatefold in the same package?plaese to holler.

i shipped a bunch of stuff for the minimum priority rate recently. record in between two pieces of cardboard in a mailer. was that too little packaging or something?

  • According to my handy dandy scale here:

    Non-gatefold LP in a mailer: 15 ounces

Gatefold LP in a mailer: 1 pound, 4 ounces

If you use cardboard padding add about 2 ounces per LP-sized piece of cardboard.

This all, of course, varies depending on how thick the vinyl is, how dense the cardboard is (some gatefolds weigh more than others, etc), things like that, but these are good guidelines.
