uploading an mp3 to my domain? (ftp newb related)

I'm planning on running a small audioblog, but findthat i've underestimated the technical side of things. Here's my setup:* ive registered a domain w/ serverspace and received my logins* i'm not using that space to host an actual site- i've set up a blogger page to which the domain is redirected* installed smartftp and connected to the allocated ftp my serverhost gave me* i can upload an mp3- no problems so far.* however, i cant seem to get a working url to the file [/b] that i can use as a link. I've tried all the logical (ie: public) folders on my ftp, generated a http path and pasted that in a browser.but all paths redirect to the blog page?! i'm lost!what am i missing here?

    The easiest way would be to host the file on a number of free storage websites, specifically one which doesn't have a 20 download limit.

    Obviously you want traffic that you can see, rather than rely on something else.

    So in other words, if you were to post your URL, that URL redirects to a blog page somewhere else, correct? Because of this, when you put an MP3 on your domain, instead of being a link to that file, it offers a link to the file at the blog?

    I don't know.

    If you have a domain with server space host your mp3 files there instead of on the ftp server. Typically you'll need a public or public-web folder (depends on how the server you are hosting it is setup) that is readable to by the outside world, and that is where you can put the files. If you try to host the files using ftp instead you'll have to give the folder anonymous access. Just make sure that the folder *does not* have write available anonymously or you'll quickly get taken over and used to distribute warez. Also remember to use ftp://host.hostname.com/filename.mp3 instead of http://host.hostname.com.
