What are some records you've listened to lately that have really caught you off guard, in a good way.Yesterday I went to record some folkways albums, and one that was requested was: The Nuru Taa African Musical Idiom: Played on the Mama-Likembi by Nadi QamarI did not expect to like this album at all. Samples can be heard here

Here's another folkways that's been melting my face lately, still need his other album.

  • I was pleasantly surprised by the Sounds of Modification record. Not my thing but nice.

I wouldn't say I've slept on Traffic/Winwood/etc my whole life
so much as just been kinda ambivalent. I like what I hear, have Dear Mr. Fantasy, whatever, but never dug in for the long haul.

I heard this LP in a record store last week, and started laughing, thinking of how
many dollar bins I've left it in over the past 20 years, and it
was so very good, I would have always liked it. It's funky, trippy, raw, cool,
    soulful and dope.

Next time I see it for a quarter, it's MINE.

  • This one has some nice tracks too.
