Bay area hip hop producer Josh "DJ Shadow" Davis is being held on $100,000 bail after he was found sampling an obscure folk album in his Davis, Califoria home. Breaking strict sampling laws that were put into effect in 2004, Davis could face up to $10,000 fine, or 5 years in prison.
When asked if he felt the courts were trying to set a precedent with Davis' case, co-conspirator Keak Da Sneak told AP "My family roll thick like syrup and milkshakes so this really ain't no thang. YADIDAMEAN(Fasho), KNOW WHAT I MEAN(Fasheezy)?"
Mr. Davis' lawyer had no comment. A press conference is scheduled for later this afternoon.
