i started working on something i reeeeally liked tonight, but i got stuck at a point (couldnt find anything in the right key and tempo) so i just randomly opened up the files from Soul '69 and laid the main horn loop over what i had going.

sounds AMAZING and it works perfectly...seriously im in love right now (and its way slower than the original track)

i dont know what i'd call this, maybe Soul '69 part 2? remix?

anybody else ever do this? intentionally or not? seems like a lame idea going back to a track thats already done but theres always room for improvement.

There is nothing wrong with re-vamping and re-using parts. I usually write 5-7 songs and then pull the best of each song into one thang. I like re-using stuff as it reflects back to earlier work, but brings it forward with each new use. Soul 69 was a great song, and you could use those parts in many new and exciting ways.

it's that thought that nothing is ever perfect.

music, painting--I'm always going back and trying to re-work things--use old samples to see if they'd sound better over this or that/giving paintings the Mayor Daley buff and then giving Daley the finger. Rinse repeat.
