when you delete TRASH where does it go?

i've always wondered about this. somebody with computer smarts drop science.peace, stein. . .

    No where, Data is never actually deleted unless it is over-written. All that happen is a flag is changed that says "this data block may now be over-written".

    This is why if you "whipped your hard drive" there are still ways of recovering your data.
