a customer asked about the "sweet chillout smooth jazz stuff" i supposedly played at work and i told him i had no idea what he was talking about. he kept on trying to explain with more buzzwords but i was still acting clueless. i told him when he heard some "sweet chillout smooth stuff" to tell me and i could tell him what the artist was. i loathe the hatt "chillout."

From a nothing-but-rap kid at my job, when I was playing "A Lifetime" by The Brothers of Soul:

    "that old shit"

"Shit," meaning BAD. And then HE TURNED IT OFF.

Play him the Pete Jolly OG and then your beat. Then, the full track. You have to work in stages.

they call it "real black music".......??? wtf?

  • Hmmm... Well, regarding hip-hop:

If we go back 10 or 12 years to when I was making beats in my bedroom, my parents could be quoted as calling it that "boom, boom, boom" or "be-bop."

Both of which are equally hilarious when said in an Arabic accent, I might add.

Holy shit. The ultimate kiss of death.

It's like "artsy" to a designer.

  • a friend of mine told one of his co-workers that he spins drum and bass and she asked "what about guitars and vocals?"

I don't even know how to describe the music I like. Most recently, futureboogie.com described it as "latin, cuban, soul sounds from new brunswick, usa" .

Lotusland, I'm gonna call you soon, promise.
