Picked this up today...never seen a purple cover...what gives? Reish?

    yup I had some trade $$ and took a chance...even the reissues I've seen have had red covers...who did this one?

    Not sure, but I've seen it on the bay plenty of times. The fact that Encore was asking like $25 for it fooled me for a sec, but it's most def a re-pop.

    whelp that sucks...they did a pretty good job with it except for the purple cover of course...haha. i should've known better, i guess those are...

    I had a 70's Korena press of this which was purple - label was not PEople, though.

    The usual suspects: thick, brown cardboard, old smell, etc. Runout groove on my promo copy reads: PE-5601-A-1A

    I could tell because it was new, sealed, and with a bunch of other re-ishes at the record store. I'd like to know incase I come across a real one.

    i do reckon re-issued people stuff tends to have that slick, non-cardboard (white and glossy)shit for jackets (looking inside it mind you) while the og j.b.'s i have have og-looking cardboard (brown)

    Yeah, the purple copy on People is def. a reissue. if memory serves me, at the time I bought my purple copy, there was only purple reissue copies circulating. And then later on they came out with the normal colour scheme.

    And yeah, even my girlfriend can tell an OG from the red cover reissue!

    The new ones are, but I bought my Food for Thought reissue in the early 90's (purple cover), and it is pretty legit looking. Heavy, dull cardstock, etc.

    Is the purple cover always a reissue?

    I bought some People re-issues during the 90s as well. They have greyish cardboard covers inside as well, but its of a different quality than the OG's. Wish I could explain it better, but you can tell the difference between the originals and the 90s issues by looking inside.

    yeah it definitely doesn't have a super obvious glossy cover, but I should've known from the condition that it was a reish. Can someone with an OG tell me what's written in the runoff?
