No tie but yes pocket square is a nice look. It has a slightly more casual air to it, but you're still smashin' em.

Sorry that I didn't answer your question at all.

B/W I predict comedy in this thread.

Back in my tie days, Purple Label had really quality shit. Solid. I have some Marc Jacobs ties that smash too.

Actually Century 21 is pretty skrong on the tie game. Notsomuch on the other shit, but the tie racks can be knownst to hold heat.

Right now is actually kinda tough for the tie-game. Current trends have a lot of people going skinny ties (not hipster more like Mad Men). I am starting to see it at the office/train too. Kinda tough because i pull out some ties from 2 years back and start to think they are getting too wide.

I just picked up some decent ones from Penguin last week. Pretty basic and pretty slim. I picked up 3 for under a bill, so you may want to give that place a go.

I absolutely love ties though, and wear them quite a bit at work.

Funny thing though, nowadays i am more likely to catch flack, even from the big dudes, for wearing a tie (eg "so you got an interview").

T.Pink for all the playas out there.

Im all about Thomas Pink in the shirt game, but their ties seem a bit "shimmery/glossy". I gotta check them again.

Pink has an outlet at Woodbury Commons - $135 down to $75 steez(Shirts).

I'll check Purple Label - better not be on some 100 Eagles shit.

I have a few Jil Sander ties - subtle, fine weave stuff, not too skinny, none of that wide RL bib shit

my favorite is a silk Yohji Yamamoto

I haven't worn a tie to work since I was promoted over a year ago. (Ironic, huh?) I used to bring it to work just in case, but now I've stopped doing that too. My manager once asked why I brought a tie but never put it on. I told him I did that in case he ever asked where my tie was I would tell say "Oh, it's right here. I forgot to put it on." He laughed.

About 2 years ago, my girl J*****e hit me up after a trip back from Vegas. "I picked something up for you so whenever you have a chance..."

I dragged my ass figuring it was some casino gift shop knick knack. 2 weeks later she called me and said "If you don't come pick this up I'm gonna give it to someone else!" I went over that night.

She handed me a long Louis Vuitton bag with a long thin box inside. WTF?! This girl has bought me a $200 tie just because. Taupe with embossed LV logos. Kinda too flashy for me, I haven't even worn it yet. I'll probably save it for a very special occasion.

Tripped me out though 'cause I never did anything super special for her, except for, well you know... She was just super cool like that. This is also the same woman who had her friend comp me the aubergine Bobbito AF1's.

The other day she sent me a text asking "What size Yeezy would you wear?" Hmmm...she has something up her sleeve. And it ain't even like that anymore. She moved to the east coast with her boyfriend.

her boyfriend is cheating on her, she doesn't have the balls to do the same, so she just buys you things as a sort of veiled revenge.

I was thinking about rocking a tie to work every so often even though it's not required but then I wouldn't want to give people douche chills in that sense if you know what I mean.

    don't do it, man

  • lots of good vintage ties-

ones from the 40's are good proportion for me (not too skinny- not boatish)

Handpainted shit that isn't rockabilly puke is balleur.

My wife made me a few from (some subtler) dutch wax textiles a few moths ago for my birthday.

    :I sound white:

but- preppy plaids/stripes would probably be more your steez-

ties always seem like the easiest part of the game to me

One of the great things about being "the youth guy" in an otherwise fairly formal Bureaucracy is that I never have to wear a tie

one would have to really commit to the look, but a wide shortish tie in matte material, shirt sleeves, vest and well cut, slightly high in the waist pants is HOT. think casual 1940s Harlem meets 1950s French country-side.

Do NOT rock a tie unless you are also wearing a suit (or, at minimum, a vest). The dress-down move is to ditch the tie and keep the jacket, not vice-versa. Otherwise, you will look mad Jim Cramer with it and might as well also roll up your sleeves to your elbows.

    Ha ha!

Nah, the tie came before the boyfriend, the Bobbitos came right when she met the boyfriend and the Kanyes may not even come at all (and if they do, they'd be from a decent hookup, if not free).

We had a thingthing back in the day and I think she dug me more than she let on.

Pablo: You have pics of the ties your wife made? I bought some white silk BITD with the intention to paint it (graf style) and sew my own, but - as expected - I never got around to it.

You have obviously never lived in the desert.

Bassie: Post some pics of the look you speak of. I'm a BIG fan of the olden style look but you can't really get away with it these days unless you're Andre3k or Johnny Depp. In the business world, it wouldn't really fly. (IF it's what I'm picturing.)

I repeat: DON'T do it. Stop trying to lead this young man astray. We have seen your taste in shoes and you are clearly not to be trusted. This look is simply unacceptable. Rock a cotton/linen blend for the suit if necessary.

I have to wear a tie every day, I'm a fan of keeping them simple as far as patterns go. Today's tie is a navy blue Fridays number with understated patterning......
