I vote Utah, places like Monument Valley, Arches Natl Park, and the Painted Desert are just otherworldly. Beautiful mountains too. Too bad the people are so sucky.

Somebody was telling me the other day that Gary Indiana is the worst place in the U.S. They were seriously like "NEVER GO THERE."b,121b,121b,121which too bad. I've always wanted to go there because of that song and because its my name.

  • I'm surprised no one has mentioned Alaska, but I'll still go with Colorado.

  • I was thinking Alaska and Hawaii, but ive never been, so I cant really talk about a place I havent been to...so I will say its a toss up between Wyoming and Arizona for me...

I have to rep New Mexico, as it has been wholly ignored so far in this thread. b,121b,121North central NM is killer (minus Espa!!!), Jemez, Bisti Badlands, Taos area, The Maplais, White Sands........I could go on for days.b,121b,121 img src="http://www.rockymtnrefl.com/nmsunrise.jpg"1b,121 img src="http://www.jmg-galleries.com/blog_images/ws_thunderhead_dunes2_520c.jpg"1

Objectively, I would have to say Hawaii, but since I have never been there I have to go with what I thought was untouchable, Snake River Canyon, Wyoming/Idaho.b,121b,121I dunno, you can find great places all over the USA. God, I wish I had time to go on a cross-country drive.I miss that.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Nice work I was gonna do the same thing. You hit a bunch of my favorite places.

  • VT/MA hands down, imo.

  • I've never been to Colorado but Utah, Montana, Oregon, New Mexico, California and Wyoming all are tops with me. b,121b,121Utah is spectacular on so many levels, Salt Flats, Dinosaur Land and the only U.S. mountain range that runs east to west. And Montana...its true there is so much sky its amazing. NM is where the Rockies meet the Desert. Cali has it all, same with Oregon....minus the Sequoias and warm weather.b,121b,121West coast has the most, but I would love to see as much as possible.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Hopefully you'll see some of the leaves turning color. It's next level up there.b,121b,121It's funny, when I went hitching around the west in the late 90s, I was absolutely freaking out from all of the natural beauty everywhere I went. But so many people I spoke with were asking about the leaves turning color in the Northeast. I guess ya can't take your home for granted.
