Go to Downtown Bakery II on 1rst btwn 6 and 7, or 6 and 5, and get the torta cubana. Go to Little Nicky's on 2nd btwn A and B and get a bahn mi. Got to the ramen spot on 1rst close to 14th on the west side of the street. Hit up the punjabi spots on houston. Hit the dragon taco stand on 3rd close to B. There a ton of good cheap food places down there, I can't believe you're asking.

You NEED to just go to Katz's Deli and get a pastrami sandwich!

When I visited in January - I had an amazing sandwich at Tiny's which is at 129 Rivington and Norfolk - I guess that's about a 10 min walk from where you're at? It was hard picking, a lot of it looked great.

I'm not offended, just surprised. Figured you'd been in the city a while and would know the area. Guess I was wrong, enjoy your lunch you're in a dope area for food!

Get a some hotdogs at Crif Dogs on St. Mark's btwn 1rst and A, there's a good dumpling spot right around that way too. Good indian on 6th btwn 2nd and 1rst. A great Sri Lankan joint on 1rst btwn 5th and 6th St, don't be afraid of all the x-mas lights. Get some spare ribs at #1 Chinese on 2nd and B, everything else there sucks though. Fat Mama's (or is it Big Mama's) on that street is good too.

Paul's Place on 2nd Ave & St Marks has some mighty tasty burgers.

Also, if you find yourself near Clinton & Houston, there is a spot that makes amazing Cuban sandwiches, but I forget the name.

I'd trade you in a heartbeat for E. Village lunch time eateries. Times Square ain't so fresh for a quick or cheap bite to eat.

You aren't as downtown as I am, but Vietnamese Sandwhich is the place. Kenmare between Elizabeth and Mott street. Ridiculously tasty and filling sandwiches for $3.95.

Parisi is an institution, $7 or $8 etc sandwhiches that are so big and tasty, you can split them in half, one half for lunch, the other half for dinner. I've finished them in one sitting, and got really, really bad stomach aches.

$3.95 for a Bahn Mi!? Are there truffles on it? That must be the New York price. The banh mi at Saigon Deli on 12th and Jackson here in Seattle start at $1.50 for the tofu and top out at $2.25 for the grilled pork! Real Seattle headz know the deal.

This is the SPOT. Had to grab a zipcar for work today, and went out of my way to grab one of these after Jonny recommended it to me a couple months back. I dont really fuck with pate, but the chicken and pork is no joke; i put away one of each today!!!

    Go tomorrow....

I know you asked for sandwich joints, but if you like burritos, head over to Benny's at the corner of 6th Street and Ave. A.
