My Spanish sucks and Babelfish isn't helpful. I'm trying to translate the lyrics to "Micaela" (Pete Rodriguez) and I'm getting stuck on one of the main refrains:"Que se boto"?I've seen the word "boto" show up on several sites but in context (it means "dull" or "stupid"), I don't think it makes sense with the song but wtf do I know?

"boto" comes from "botar" which is to through out or throw away....
"Que se boto" = "What was thrown out?" or "What was thrown away?"

Hmm...I should have quoted the entire chorus:

Ay ay ay micaela se boto
    Que se boto
    Que se boto
Ay ay ay micaela se boto

  • Can you divshare the mp3?

    sure, once I get home

  • Sounds like it's probably "se bot??" with the accent on the second syllable, which would be the preterite (past tense). Sounds like Micaela just left him.

Yeah , but it's definitely in context .... I'm thinking "se boto" = "our love was thrown away" or something but unless the track is played it would be difficult. Who knows, it migt even be "voto"(b & v are pronounced practically the same in spanish). Although I'd be surprised if it's about a vote/voting.

What the song is saying is that he was dancing with Micaela, and Micaela "went all out" "did that thing" (se boto). She danced so well that she surpassed her partner.

Te botaste (you went all out)
Se boto "(he/she went all out)

"y cuando yo bailo con ella,
    atras me dejo"
"and when I dance with her,
    she left me behind"
But that's not proper spanish, it should be "y cuando yo baile con ella, atras me dejo" or "cuando yo bailo con ella, atras me deja"
Basically he's saying how she's a great dancer and it sounds like she's too good of a dancer for him to the point where she kept dancing without him.
Si in this case it sounds like "se boto"="she through herself away"(on the dance floor)
