    AAarrrggg !!!!

    This happened to me about a month ago, GF got a new iPod and as she hasn't updated her mac for so long it wouldn't work with her iTunes.

    Plugged it into mine and got the same message as you then the same thing happend...



    All the music was still on my HD but I lost all my playlists...

    ok - but didn't it give you an option to not sync?

    I manually manage my ipod & I've never encountered this problem w/ my ipod... but my gf's ipod was set to sync w/ her itunes + when I attached her ipod to my machine, it asked if I wanted to sync to MY itunes instead. this would have wiped her ipod clean and replaced here library w/ mine...
