I just had lunch with a friend who works in the AG office here in VA. Word on the street is that the recount will take a month. And though stakes are so high, Allen's people are on the fence about it. Allen's people are aware--like everyone else--that a recount will likely boost Webb's lead.

My thoughts are that Allen could really give a fuck about going back to the Senate and doing nothing. He has always been about climbing the ladder to Prez. Since that ain't gonna happen he's more or less at the end of his political career. So he will concede, get himself a good K Street job and make some REAL money.

I expect Dems to hold the whole darn Congress by the weekend.

  • still against gay marriages & for gun control.

As are a lot of the dems that got seats last night.

Hello, Virginia does not border the Gulf of Mexico.

    Ergo, NOT SOUTH.

    Check out the county map.

    Thank god for urban centers?

I see a lot of rural counties going blue on that map. Horse country to Allen, Appalachian back hills going to Webb. Fatback can give us a better run down on what that map means. I have not lived in that area since '75.

    VIRGINIA VICTORY ANNOUNCED!!!!!
dems running the senate like what

  • While I'm glad that so many here consider the Repubs to be THEM, I find it really sad to see so many here consider the Dems as WE.

before you drown in your sad little tears, understand that this is a collective WE as in "WE are not republicans" who WE believe are seriously fucking up the country. now plaese to go back to eating stale pretzels at the concession speech of your choosing.

    PEACE!

  • Looks like it's a done deal - DEMS got em both!!!

It's pretty crazy, in most cases people weren't really fed up with the republican incumbent, but rather so fed up with Bush.

  • Wow, I'm amazed it turned out this way. After so many election night disappointments for the past decade I never would have guessed that the Dems would get the Senate too. But A.P. is reporting Allen supposedly won't seek a recount. We'll see if it holds true...
