my personal choice would have to be the record with a song titled:
    happiness is a warm pussin'

but if the right answer is the ekambi brillant mexi press, don't particularly like that one.

never seen that milt matthews before. love For the People on Catalyst.
what label / sound is that one?
his green apples lp is truly awful.

Rene Magritte: "This is Not a Croissant."

that brilliant eggplant shit is mildly ineresting. the milt mathews is on ember and covers dyke??s runaway people but that ain??t really the cut. heat not yet guessed but that mexican reggae band ain??t too shabby as they enlisted a singer of african descent.

    I got some finds!

They're from the weekend and not early week,
and only one is Latin...well, two of one:

Those 45's and all of these (and more) came from a "store moving"
sale last weekend - everything they didn't want to bother moving
was left in the old location for a dollar or less. I don't know why
they wouldn't keep these, but I wasn't asking any questions, just gave
'em the cash and said thanks:

A few were actually understandably left behind, some boxes of sleeveless
and pretty rinked stuff, for a quarter each. I got a small pile of these,
but the Sam & Bill was still worth noting, great track and pretty scarce.

The Vernon Green is a great find, on Dootone from 1973, 20 years after
their first hit with the same label. A fantastic slab of wah wah bluesfunk,
so nice I'm giving it away:

On the LP tip, I had fun at a usual local spot, going old school
and hitting up the offbeat sections, Oldies, Pop, Country...and found
a few gems. Lots of caucasians on the covers. The most interesting of the
pile had to be this bad boy:

I just figured I'd cop some cheap schmaltzy covers of soul tracks...but
dude can sing! Former lead singer for the Dovells, the liners brag of how
he played on a team with Wilt Chamberlain...Philly has always had those
funky white boys. I'm not going to claim it's a secret funk burner or something,
but he does some choice covers, and has a number of self-written originals that
are pretty good tracks, too. Even the dreaded four-song "medley" that takes up
most of the second side turned out to just be 4 (actually) live, raw tracks in a row
with hyped-up audience intact - maybe the best stuff on the record!

MP3 action...Check LB's take on the hit Smokey wrote for the Marvelettes:

    More LP's:

I always passed over Astronauts records cause I don't really
dig Surf instros, but this one has all vocal tracks, and they
do some great material like Barabara Lynn's "We Got a Good Thing Going"
really strong garage/US british invasion style album all the way through!
P.P. Arnold is a UK soul singer backed on some tracks by the Small Faces,
on the same label (Immediate) ... LP is a cheapo 70's comp, but has a bunch
of great (and rare) tracks on it.
Parry record has a bunch of burners on it. One of the better library joints
I've picked up, of the few I've taken a shot on.

But the find of the month:

Don't know if it's super heat, but that Milt Matthews LP is pretty cool.
