It's the day after Thanksgiving, a lot of Americans are off from work and it kicks off the holiday season. Since many people go holiday shopping on that day and there are huge sales it's traditionally been the day of the year where the retailers go "into the black" for the year (start turning a profit), hence Black Friday. <br /><br />We also now have Cyber Monday, due to the large number of people who shop online when they return to work after the holiday weekend.
