According to my handy dandy scale here: Non-gatefold LP in a mailer: 15 ounces Gatefold LP in a mailer: 1 pound, 4 ounces If you use cardboard padding add about 2 ounces per LP-sized piece of cardboard. This all, of course, varies depending …

Battery life and just batteries in general have always been a weak point with the iPod. When they first came out there was the whole fiasco with the batteries not being changeable and having to pay Apple a hefty sum if you wanted a replacement batt…

I used to love me some Orange Julius. I lived in Chicago from ages 2-7 and we used to get Orange Julius there and it was the shit. Then we moved away from Chicago and didn't have any Orange Julius stores near us so I couldn't have it... THen I vi…

It's an idea that's been talked about for some time now, actually. I don't know if they'd actually ever do it or not but as a seller I wouldn't mind at all. It wouldn't prevent sniping as sniping software would just keep bidding until it had the h…

At Least This Politician Has Experience is honest Isn't that a contradiction of terms?

I guess technically this counts as a war movie since it takes place during the Civil War. One of the landmarks of American cinema to be sure. Having a real train crash through the bridge and into the river?

lemme add this. another incredibly beautiful movie Co-sign on this one. This came out around the same time as Saving Private Ryan and a lot of people thought SPR was better, but I never really got into SPR. I far preferred Thin Red Line, and I …

aren't the results actually meaningless, as there's no indication as to the level of bacteria in either ice or toilet. saying that one is less than the other does not make one large, and the other small... they can both be small - microscopically …

i dont think I really changed my mind - I've upgraded the year to Mediocre. You know, the thing about the 80's is that in large a lot of the best music of the decade was singles, not albums. There's tons of singles from the 80's that people have …

Certainly not the best album he did but it wasn't a bad album either, certainly compared to a lot of the stuff that came out that year. And critics' polls are always dodgy. I mean, I've never seen a critic who didn't list a Richard Thompson alb…

Yeah, it was 67 degrees here today, and tomorrow it's a high of 39...schizophrenic weather. I love the occasional unseasonably warm weather in the winter, it reminds me that nice warm days are only around the corner. The dark dreary winter days bu…

This story kind of reminds me of the story I read last week about how some enterprising folks in the Gaza Strip were selling Danish flags. Hey, people there wanted to burn Danish flags and *somebody* has to provide them, so some people decided to s…

Heh. Recording Nerds. Hey, I resemble that remark! I actually got my BS in Recording so I'm an uber recording nerd.

Dizzy, like a lot of people have already said, basically use your ears. Usually, the "correct" thing to do would be reverb first, and then compression at the end. One thing you quickly learn about recording though is that there's really no "correc…

I guess this kind of speaks for itself: For those who can't make out the scrawl, it says "To John, Ron Jeremy" and on the other side of that card is Slash's autograph. Kind of amusing story on that card... I was in Los Angeles visiting frie…

This again is pc based writers trying to make mac look level with their own POS'. Sure it is, except that the story was reported by macworld.com which I wouldn't exactly say is a site filled with PC-based writers trying to make Mac look bad. You…

And story #2 about threats against Macs. Looks like those who want to fuck with people have decided to finally give Macs some attention. Two security warnings in one week? Looks like business is picking up. A virus? Maybe not, but a security br…

Since a bit of discussion about Macs and viruses was brought up, I saw this article a bit ago and figured it'd fit in in this thread. Welcome to our world, Mac users! Virus attacking Apple Macintosh PCs found: experts SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - …

Like Ed said earlier, most of the MP3's COME FROM Soulseek. I can't speak for other people, but of the 4 or so albums I posted I know that three of them I ripped from vinyl myself, and the other thing I posted was a repost of something somebody els…

somebody with the "ability" to download should just get everything and then go on soulseek. That would be funny to watch people start losing their shit about how exclusive such precious mp3's are supposed to be. Real Headz is some upper echelon of…

It don't mean shit to me as far as romance and all that... Never have a girlfriend so it's nothing at all to me in that way. However, it's my brother's birthday so even though I never have a girl I'm still screwed into having to buy a present on t…

I pretty much always have to have either music or talk radio on. For one thing it drowns out the mild bit of tinnitus I have, and for the other if it's dead quiet I start thinking about things in my head too much and can't just drift off to sleep. …

This is according to AllMusic, not that that means this is definitive or anything: "With such a promising start to his career, it seemed Tenor Saw would be around for quite a long time; sadly, his life was cut short in August 1988, when he was hit …

Here's an article about his passing from the Detroit Free Press. What fucks me up the most about his death honestly is that he's the same age as me. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060210/NEWS11/60210012 Hip-hop producer Jay …
