We were all little Timmy's at one time and 75 was a year that stuck out when you started, and I'm trying to reason it out as to why. . Maybe it's because when I started digging I started with CTI/Kudu/Blue Note/Presitge/Atlantic/Epic/ ect... and the…

There's alot out there without going into schmaltzy smooth jazz. I'm not the best judge of what's inoffensive, I can take alot, but here's some suggestions: Kenny Burrell: Midnight Blue Grant Green: Green Street, Idle Moments M'Boom: C…

^^ Szabo's unique, though his stuff on CTI is weak IMO My Coltrane section is bloated. I need to get it down to under 8. I haven't bought a Miles LP in yrs but the section seems to keep growing. I love Mongo Santamaria, but damn I've got al…

Bassie: the Isreal thread was started by Kala. It was a five pager in under 5 hours. Again, the topic was Isreal. Any red lights flashing? Though I'm with you, I couldn't resist diving in. Talk about being disillusioned about some of the folks on t…

I'm with Stacks and Del Alma on this one. A paragraph like this: "My record collection is no longer a lifestyle, a biography, a status. The identities that I and a generation of fellow aesthetes spent our lives fashioning are suddenly obsol…

Crab, this is a 'gotta see before I/ they die list" I can't see every jazz great that's still alive. I don't live in New York unfortunately. Lou Donaldson is one of my heroes, I love him dearly, and I saw him play a couple of years ago. It was a goo…
