I would have a club/venue. Not based on business knowledge of any kind, it's just what I would want to do.

I don't think there's anything unhealthy about shedding some tears while being thankful for your family. I'd be concerned if you never did. If you're regularly pulling over to sob uncontrollably, that's another story.

My wife was approved for a mortgage and closed on our new place on Monday. She is a gov employee but luckily her dept has been funded through 2014. I can just imagine the bureaucratic nightmare with the bank if the shutdown had happened first.

There is a lot of great advice in this thread. Volunteering can help you get out of your own head and see the world from another perspective, and helping others creates a feeling of self-worth and joy. Relationships can be tricky but I'm lea…

On the floor in front of the Eddie Kendricks.

The material, inspired performances, raw aesthetic, and stripped-down arrangements are right up my alley. It doesn't get much better.

I like how the Soulstrut app is now fully separate from Safari. But I don't like how it is not multi-tasking enabled. If you navigate away from it, it goes back to the forum home even if you were reading a thread. Also, if you open a link that was …

I had a next door roommate who blasted Ozzy's No More Tears on repeat (song, not album) every weekend morning. It actually didn't bother me that much, he could have chosen a much worse song. I heard after he was gone that he had a major drug proble…

Agreed with above, pop music has always been 90% crap. He also talks like the crowds at clubs used to only go for the music and dancing. Of course no one was there to take drugs, get laid and "be seen" like they are now!

So sorry for your loss. I wish comfort to you and your family.

How many songs use the Popcorn bassline and beat and variations of it in much more blatant ways than this? Some songs get copied so much that they start a genre, and some don't. It's just chance. If you listen to JB's mid-60s instrume…

You can't own the rights to a "feel". Melody, lyrics and master recordings only, under the current law (whether it be right or wrong in your opinion). How many disco songs have the same feel? Reggae? House? Blues? Salsa? Afrobeat? Funk? A ruling in…

I've heard Boston Guitar Works is the place.

This record is a unique, creative, passionate, well-conceived and well-realized opus.

Can't have a violin thread without mention of Michel Urbaniak the funky fusion violin playing maniac!

On the other hand, I just got the Pioneer DDJ-SX controller for 1K which is pretty much 2 CDJs and a 4-channel mixer in one, which would cost 3K.

The Music City Sessions LP that came out a couple years ago is mind-blowing. His singing affects me in a different way than anybody else. So visceral. One of my favorite artists of all time.

Shawshank! And hopefully the rest of The Hunger Games trilogy.
