The Guardian's coverage of rap music has always been absolutely appalling, they seem to have got stuck a long time ago in middle class discomfort over anything that doesn't match to their collection of 5 classic rap CDs. Doesn't look like much has c…

couple of very different opinions here in the guardian, one from tom ewing who was largely bowled over in awe by it. but i do like the bit where he says - "there are enough ideas on the album to awe a listener into accepting it quickly as a m…

pitchfork make a casual pithy comparison like that? nah they're way too busy mining teenage fanblogs for the latest in hauntological post-step nano-genres to pseudo-intellectualise about.

its an american word clearly, but i've heard people use that term way more over here. and boogie the genre even has a funny pronounciation here which i can't really transcribe. the "oo" part is clipped. so it's like - bougie. sorta
-
I think boogie is more frequently used as a term - and has more of a clearer association with a certain sound - here in the uk than maybe other places. if you want a sense of what boogie is to us, well just think d train or most of that prelude stuf…

*ren and stimpy LOG advert narrator's voice* Have you ever been sonned whilst digging in the field by a greasy ruffneck in an iron maiden tshirt? Do your fellow boutique diggeurs kick sand in your face whilst mocking your penchant for leo say…
