This is far better than the stuff I heard on the pop/chart channels that some of the lads at work sometimes put on, I hope JT has got some better new material than this but this one is ok to my ears.

Herm said:"Thrift Shop" is not parody rap and these dudes are not parody rappers. Yeah. All because this track is lighthearted why does that make it parody rap? I'm not into these guys but have heard a couple of tracks of theirs that I…

It's ok. If this was a b-side of a record is bought I'd think yeah cool track for a flip side, nice little bonus. But this would be strong enough for me to buy as a main track.

LaserWolf said:Did Axelrod have any bboy cuts? The bit in Urizen where the bass kicks in with the drums has been used battles, I guess they just looped it up.

LaserWolf said: I have never figured out who was buying this. Did not fit any genre. Marketed toward a rock psych market, but far too orchestrated for those folks. Much too jazzy for easy listening, too easy listening for jazz. Thi…

The whole of EL-P's I'll Sleep When Your Dead has a world is ending vibe to me.

Full on crate-diggin era classic. End to end its a joy to listen to. Its been sampled a whole load of times so its always fun listening to the album and noticing new sampled bits.

Im sure Shadow knew what he was letting himself in for with this gig, it didn't take much for me to work out what this club is about and I live 6000 miles away and have never even heard of it until this thread popped up, Shadow said he had been want…

Unless things have changed as the poster above said Disk Union don't do overseas mail order (a lot of Japanese shops don't)

The list is really all over the place, and if is based on genuine votes is interesting , a real mix of proper underground seminal joints and stuff that crossed over to the mainstream (or aimed at the mainstream). Missy / Get your freak on i…

No 46: Push It I bloody hate that tracks. Salt n Pepa hadn't put a foot wrong until that track.
-
It was amazing. I played it to death but haven't felt tempted to play it in years, maybe because I just got some dodgy boot. Will get the OG one day.

I was completely obsessed with this album, shouting about it from the rooftops, it really had an effect on me. I'd say they were top of the hip hop game when this dropped, beats and rhymes. I never felt quite the same way about a Gangstarr alb…

I've not done any mixes since around the period when Raj kindly hosted my Harajuku Snap mix, which was some years ago now. I've been meaning to do a new mix for ages and this mix off will hopefully give me the kick up the ass I need (I do have t…

I can not believe how well that works, my first time digital DJing sat here at home with a coffee, not learning how to do it or set up, its unreal. Damn, this is really going to fuck up DJ/club culture more than it already is.

It seems so strange to me how message boards have dies, and they really have. Thankfully there are a few that are surviving and seem fairly but they are always going to be a shadow of what they were years back. Raj, keep on keeping on if you g…

I bought the Zulu Walk 7" I thought they pulled it off well, has a nice raw feel to it, where as that second track goes way of into corny territory not my cup of tea at all.

Looks good, but then I thought that recent documentary Ice T presented looked good and that was bloody bad news.

I really love Den Haan / Gods From Outer Space Sounds like it should have been made in Italy in the early 80's but it from Scotland from a few years ago. If Italo-Disco is not your thing I wouldn't bother checking the clip

An album thats never come my way, I must to admit to have not (knowingly) heard the album, though I presume I've heard tracks from it over the years here and there.

Thanks for posting that, good stuff. I love stories of the evolution of House in the UK, and how there was such a resistance to it, I had a friend from up North who stated getting into house (and out of hip hop) sometime in 87, he asked if I want…

just checked it and that Masters Of War is nice for sure. And having just checked the LP (via juno clips) again it does seem ok, I was at first rather (possibly) unfairly critical of the album when I realised it was mostly cover versions, but on …

Whilst they get props from most quarters neither Paris or Omar have ever really grabbed me, but on this track shit they got it right:

I like the bits I've heard from Beak, just youtube clips whist killing time in work really. I had high hopes for the Anika album who I presume is a Beak offshoot, I like this joint a lot, but that was it:

Expected to hate it but it came off alright, just alright though. Tash has stil got it. Coincidently just moments before checking the above clip I've just heard the entire Liks / Coast II Coast album for the first time, obviously I knew mo…
