  • Shirley Scott And The Soul Saxes - I Wish I Knew How It Feels To Be Free has always killed me

I can think of some I Want You Backs worth checking out too -
Bobby Shad & The Bad Men
    Also Trinidad Esso Steel Band

And finally Paris DJs podcast had a like 20 part series of half hour mixes called Molesting Laura that were this kinda theme, covers and ripoffs, that're worth checking out. If you're willing to google "molesting laura" that is.

Thanks guys...I checked the Impossibles and dug it!  I'll have to dig up that Paris DJs podcast and do a little homework over the summer for sure!

  • This is a dope concept, about to check your mix. Here's a few:

A favorite cover would be located on Justin Torres Break up letters mix. Its a cover of Al Green's "how can you mend a broken heart," by who I have not a clue. It starts around 52:35 mark of this mix.

I think the Jackson 5 is probably the best cover band of all time.

Great list. One thing: Erma Franklin's "Piece of My Heart" was the original, Janis was the cover. Here's a cover of hers, that I'm surprised doesn't get more shine:

Oh snap...I didn't realize that was the original!  Thanks for the heads up.  I hope you enjoyed the mix if you had a chance to listen.

  • Just stumbled into this new release, I forgot all about the Traffic. They do pretty ridiculously over the top instrumental covers.
