Hard Times, Baby Huey or Curtis?
Which do you prefer, and why?
Used to think Huey hands down, but lately the Curtis version sits better with me. I really don't know why?
Might be just have heard the Baby Huey version way too many times.
Blastin' the Nasty
I like Curtis' version for it's smoothness and Baby Huey's for it's dissonance, I ride for both.
No love for Gene Chandler's version?
Baby Huey and then Gene then Curtis.
Gene Chandler hits hard.
DEATH TO TRAITORS
It's never been a question for me. The Baby Huey version is as genuine, raw, and angry as it gets. It makes me want to break things when I hear that beat too.
Plus it has classic line:
Eating spam and oreos and drinking thunderbird, baby
Baby Huey all day.
klezmer electro-thug beats
There is no question. I listen to Curtis' other songs far more than I do Huey's others but for this song, it's Huey. Reasons similar to what everyone else has said!
