Well I will say this is a pretty sound statement.
The crates list actually turned into the forum on the breaks.com so it actually increased instead of dissapearing.
I think the fine line is that fact that "culture" is in the title hear. So I think discussing slurs and their propper or impropper place is a ligitimate conversation. Cuz it is a part of the Hip Hop Culture.

Yo, chillz dude. I am in agreement with you. I didn't half-wittedly delete anything except for the Shig and Guzzo rants yesterday. Two threads that I thought did not and would not further the board along. Plunging the board into excess personal issues and drama is not the itent of this board.
Regardless, yes I've made mistakes. For example, the one major misstep I felt I had earlier last month was when I edited Tony Double's post without actually requoting it or explaning it explicitly why I had changed it. As most of you now know, it was actually done to further make fun of myself (changing "diplo supporter" to "diplo cheerleader," a name given to me by RD and JP). I even spoke on it when I met Tony in Philly and it was understood as a simple joke, which I ended up learning my lesson from (from Tony and board members alike). Regardless, I have rectified these missteps, taken extra caution when deleting sensitive threads (like the two yesterday), and tried extra hard to tread lightly.
As you know, I am all about keeping things light, positive, and fun around here. I am not about preachy deletions (or threads) or acting like the thought-police yielding an iron fist.
That said, I concur with the sentiment that this place is about records, record-related culture, and lighthearted fun. Of course everyone has their opinion on what constitues "fun" but I think AlGarth's 95% vs 5% ratio and a general call for "self moderation" is what we're all advocating.
I wouldn't be here if this community was ruled by an iron fist and I intend to assist RAJ in a gentle, peace-loving, and fun manner.

And JP as for what I do to help the gay community, I do my best not to participate in the bashing of it and try to point out hypocracies of people who cry out about prejudice of certain cultures and communities while putting down others. I too am offended by posturing and I think all those fools complaining about all other types of hate but saying its cool to bash and make slurs on gay folks here need to check themselves. If you look earlier in this thread you'll see that I said I don't want words like fag, bitch, and nigger banned from this site because they all have thier different contexts and need to be free to use for those reasons. I don't think however that I shouldn't be able to challenge people who use the word fag. It's my perogative(?) to do so and I will continue to do so until someone starts calling for the banning of people with different ideas. And JP as for what I do to help the gay community, I do my best not to participate in the bashing of it and try to point out hypocracies of people who cry out about prejudice of certain cultures and communities while putting down others. I feel the the frequency of those sorts of guzooo vs. the world threads are only increasing. There needs to be a check & balance with that self-indulgence.

No Mark is the homie and by no means a lil' dude. I was just saying that some folks must realize when a position might not be for them or if they are misinterprting it etc...It's nothing personal. It's like the one day when I realized after 7 great years that I hated retail customer service and working for douchbag managers and I simply didn't belong there so I left that same day.
I give him props for stepping up to moderate/babysit when not many others did. Lord knows it must be a headache at times going through all the posts etc...If he is happy and comfortable in his spot, I say keep on! But I just wonder how anyone could be comfortable with the barrage of hostility.

Although I really have no problem with most words I think there is no need for beefs and other unrelated stuff on a RECORD message board. Do you really think he is ruling with an iron fist? I don't.
I'm sure somewhere there exists a board dedicated to beefs and racial and/or sexual slurs. Or if not, someone who gives a damn should start one.
To me it seems like 95% of us have never had anything edited, removed, banned, etc.. And the same 95% probably have nothing to worry about in the future as long as we don't start posting things that are offensive or lame and off topic etc.. It's the other 5% that will probably continue to act foul and get upset and hostile because they feel like they are being censored when they posted like jackasses in the firstplace.
I think we are all lucky to have SoulStrut and we should be greatful and not abuse it or piss everyone off to the point where SS ends up like the crates list - GONE. I'm sure when Raj or Pap (or whoever) started SS they didn't have racial and sexual warfare laced with profanity as a motive.

Well I will say this is a pretty sound statement.
The crates list actually turned into the forum on the breaks.com so it actually increased instead of dissapearing.
I think the fine line is that fact that "culture" is in the title hear. So I think discussing slurs and their propper or impropper place is a ligitimate conversation. Cuz it is a part of the Hip Hop Culture.

Well doggs, I was out having sushi and Extraordinary Desserts with my Cousin and Sister last night. I did not delete anything after 5pm yesterday, August 11, 2005.
I got up early and had a wisdom tooth removed at 10am. Been relaxing all afternoon watching the Peter Jennings retrospective on VHS. Now I am returning to the strut having mad fingers pointed at something I didn't do!

Yo, chillz dude. I am in agreement with you. I didn't half-wittedly delete anything except for the Shig and Guzzo rants yesterday. Two threads that I thought did not and would not further the board along. Plunging the board into excess personal issues and drama is not the itent of this board.
Regardless, yes I've made mistakes. For example, the one major misstep I felt I had earlier last month was when I edited Tony Double's post without actually requoting it or explaning it explicitly why I had changed it. As most of you now know, it was actually done to further make fun of myself (changing "diplo supporter" to "diplo cheerleader," a name given to me by RD and JP). I even spoke on it when I met Tony in Philly and it was understood as a simple joke, which I ended up learning my lesson from (from Tony and board members alike). Regardless, I have rectified these missteps, taken extra caution when deleting sensitive threads (like the two yesterday), and tried extra hard to tread lightly.
As you know, I am all about keeping things light, positive, and fun around here. I am not about preachy deletions (or threads) or acting like the thought-police yielding an iron fist.
That said, I concur with the sentiment that this place is about records, record-related culture, and lighthearted fun. Of course everyone has their opinion on what constitues "fun" but I think AlGarth's 95% vs 5% ratio and a general call for "self moderation" is what we're all advocating.
I wouldn't be here if this community was ruled by an iron fist and I intend to assist RAJ in a gentle, peace-loving, and fun manner.
