That Tinta Blanca is great. I ride quite hard for Trio Galleta and Dug Dug's. There's a ton of other stuff but one problem with Youtube is that dudes often post the sappiest ballads by some of these groups. Like Los Vikings. And there are lots of S Americans who seem to think Los Iracundos are just soft when they actually have some heavy shit.
Any rock with some Latin instrumentation/percussion?
Any rock originating in a Latin American country?
I think it has to have some sort of differentiating (sonic) element or it's just rock that happens to be played by people of Latino descent.
For it to be true Latin Heavy Rock it must be sung by bourgeois college kids who hate their parents. Anything else is Garage.
I like the drums/percussion and the harmonies that you get on a lot of Latin rock, be it from Mexico or Argentina. They seem to have a uniquely Latin sound to them.
I know this thread is more focussed on old latin rock but Ive always held BERSUIT in high regard. One of the freshest and more interesting groups out there period....latino or non.
Heres a few of their tracks and I suggest if you like genre mixing latino rock thats creative but tstill rocks....track their shit down.

And Aguaturbia:
Agreed. The bassline on "Que Chevere" esta a toda madre!
Yeah, my loose definition would be any rock that sounds like it's played by Latinos, whether it be the percussion or vocals or whatever.
Have you heard the Peruvian version of this?
Yep, I reissued it. ;-)
Was it hard tracking down "El Tr*gl*d*t*" to get the rights or did you go straight through M*g?
MAG, who are very easy to deal with. JP didn't write the song, and I doubt he's the rights owner (but who knows?)
Another classic by El Troglodita:
