Because they kinda look like saddle shoes? They do have a gothy 50s feel to me. They would look good with drawn-in eyebrows, but not so much the tomboy look.
I could never do it, but I love them. If you told the concept to me, I would have never believed it could work, but they look really good.

pretty extravagant purchase on my part but i've been waiting to get the opportunity to splash on her, and it appeared. the spikes look a lot less bold when actually worn.
I am absolutely KICKING myself for not buying these. The price was looming over my head....that's a lot of records, that's a lot of records....and now, I put on stuff some mornings and think how amazing these shoes would look as part of the kit. Sigh.
Yea, I just don't know my size in this brand. The couple of places I know that carry APC in the city don't have shoes in right now that I can try on to know how I fit into their stuff. I really wish they would open a store up here. Anyway I am checking back. But really, the price still bugs me, too.

yeah, i know what you're saying. i personally couldn't pay that much - i tend to think of things like airfare or electronics when clothes get into the $400 range, ha ha ha. they are super though, i love the polished mahogany leather and the tassels are incredibly cute

the lining is really thick and plush, so i'm excited that i finally have a coat that is warm enough to wear to a night baseball game or when i visit cities that actually have winter.
I have been wearing ugly shoes lately because 1) I don't want to buy any new ones and 2) I don't want to wear anything too nice/uncomfortable because I'll invariably end up having to walk a lot that day.
I recently refurbished an old pair of Toms that I bought at a fundraiser. For every pair you buy, Toms donates a pair to a kid in need. They were out of the black and white shoes in my size, so I had to settle for these tack-tastic tie dye ones. Then my friend starting making fun of me. I didn't really care because Toms are innately ugly IMO, but I realized I might give the wrong impression wearing tie dye shoes around. So I got out the acrylic paints and painted them black and gold. Despite my painstakingly precise paint job, they're still tacky, just in a different way. I haven't worn these in public yet, so I don't know if I'll still be made fun of.

Really? I've always associated them with 60s mod/psychedelic/biker culture and I just so happen to like them. No perv-o. And, yes, if I earned a dime for every time I heard someone instantly associate the Valley, the home of post-WW2 urban sprawl, with porn...I'd own a Bentley.
it's funny to me how going a few inches taller to over the knee line automatically trashes the whole look a majority of the time, but i guess the same thing goes for skirt lengths. over-the-knee boots are really unflattering to me just the same as skirt lengths that go a few inches below the knee.
I'm a fan of The Sartorialist. I thought fans of shoes would appreciate this, especially Edith who was asking about replacing a heel, etc. The shoes are wonderful.

Lia Belle HAD to have these Prada shoes, but they didn't have her size. She has very tiny feet, so this is a common issue for her.
Being the crafty Aussie that she is, she bought them in the nearest size she could find and took them to a shoe repair shop. There they removed the heel and cut-out a few centimeters from the middle length of the shoe. Then, they reattached the two severed pieces, re-sanded the heel, re-sewed the lining and refit the heel.
Sounds expensive, but she bought the shoes on sale for $250 and had $100 worth of alterations. Now, the shoes fit Lia Belle perfectly! No one can see the difference, AND she still spent less than the full retail price- smart lady.
