I've finally qualified for vacation, its been years...i'm leaving for vancouver this saturday for a week, staying at a friend's place by kitsilano, i never heard of it till i wikipediaed it. what's good to do there? i'm thinking of eating like crazy and doing things to stimulate that appetite. already thinking of the sushi. suggestions?thanksi need an umbrella right?

    I spent a few days in Vancouver about to years ago and it was pretty fresh. I don't know about food....had some decent eats - but wasn't really knowing that the cuisine's supposed to be all that. However - I did hit the one record store there which while it didn't have the best vinyl - did have A LOT of cool artifacts. I got about 10 crazy posters.....all original....a poster for The Pound, a Minx poster....a Shuggie Otis 16x8 joint....and tons of porn and exploitation jump offs. Then I went two doors down and got a '92 Polo Sailing deck jacket (the cream joint with the big boat on the back) for $18.00!!!! Yea - Vancouver's kinda craze. Be sure to hit that store! Just look in the phone book - it's on what I believe is the city's version of Haight Street. Sorry I can't remeber the name....but if you need to ask just tell em it's where all the coffee spots and vintage stores are....

    I believe is the city's version of Haight Street.

    thats either granville or robson. granville is much dirtier and robson is for shoppers, but they're both streets to check for.

    or now that i think about it.... probably commercial street. either way...

    i'll be there in two weeks....

    I think it is but I haven't noticed it AT ALL, and I live in lower east side/gastown. It's still the cleanest city in Canada!

    Kilo still spins, he does Saturday nights at Shine (Water st.) in the backroom. I spin in the front with Mat The Alien, it's a good night.

Used to be in a group called EQ and did a lot of shows up there in the early 90's! I love your town and looking forward to being back - if only for a day!

Used to be in a group called EQ and did a lot of shows up there in the early 90's! I love your town and looking forward to being back - if only for a day!

    Was that a group with Ease? I just saw that record a couple weeks ago, my co-worker picked it up, said is was dope.

    yup, ease and quaze (EQ)! i assume ease is still playing video games, macking to fat chicks and living the life of an aging bboy. thats my boy though, i hope he comes out of the house when i'm up top. is he doing anything around town still? i miss the crispy bisquits days.

    I think he's a family man now. Last time I heard from him was the Crisp Biscuit reunion show (with J Swing and Flipout).

    so looking at this post that was in other vancouver thread, i was wondering if there were updates to the following, or are they a safe bet (again, this is for next week)....

    Stay away from Granville St. Clubs, unless you like gibrondos and frosted tips. (Except Thurs. at Republic), Shine is good on Mondays, Celebrities on Tuesdays, Section 3 on Fridays, Royal Unicorn on Saturday, Chill Winstons has a good daytime patio and Salt is a half block away for meat/cheese/wine/charcuterie, Karaoke Everydays. (Lumiere is alright, but Parkside and Aurora are better and more reasonable) Sushi is all business at Kadoya (Davie between burrard and thurlow). Fuck I could go on for days, just lemme know if there's anything further you want, specifics wise.

    i plan on hitting vijs, my friend said it was a "Make sure you go there" case...said there were massive lineups, so u should get someone to stay in line?

    Here's the update...
    Garbage strike is over (i think it was like 84 days? but the whole city was clean except junky ville), Granville still blows, this thursday (tommorow) at Celebrities http://www.celebritiesnightclub.com/upcoming_events/2007/10/fools-gold-tour if that's your shit. The Yaletown Dine out cheap eats fest is on right now http://www.yaletowninfo.com/events/toy.aspx chopstick and rodneys are the one's to hit there (fuck glowbal used to work there food is why i quit there) there's also a mexican choclatier called Chocoatl (real mexican/south american chocolate), but for the weekend yesh, could go shine sat. but talk to pony (i don't know him) about the list cause it's shit weather and waiting is for deflated cocks. PM me if you want to know anymore stuff cause the knowledge runs deep.
    Oh yeah and Olivia Newton John at the River Rock Casino Friday
