monday...should i change the thread title to NOT THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK BUT NOT THE WEEKEND EITHER DAY FINDS?

  • this right?

og release (and overseas only?) before it hit the states back in the day i believe...from what i gather, jimi wasn't feeling the nude action, as he thought it took away from the music? so when it finally dropped in the us it had the cover we all recognize with his big mug. please to elaborate if you know peoples.

edit: didn't see your picture load...my bad

well i understand that much, but is the original the straight Polydor release, or the Track Record release, which was put out by Polydor anyway?

    ahh, got it

Track pressing came first and sells for the most...though all later UK (and other Euro) pressings had the nude cover through the 70s.

  • were all living in the shadow of Fatbacks jazz haul for the next 3 months.
that said, never cease the excavations!

^^hardwater sealed, i didnt even notice it was axelrod till i got it home.

    ^^mostly upgrades/doubles here

super clean og diddleys, smiths bootleg with neat soundcheck tracks, and the coe is
EVIL, yet fascinating in a way (the 'how the hell did they press this?' way).
totally x-rated hick bar rock, with one fully he's-going-to-hell racialist track.
waaaaay non pc private press redneck underground shit. creepy.

when i see this, i go: yes, i am, and buy it.

^^ techno heads, who/what is this? it said 1989 and detroit on it so i grabbed it.
    it sounds alright i guess.

derrick may, its the r&s pressing of the the original that came out on transmat, you would be lucky to get $20 for if you are looking to sell it, but that shit is nice, and a classic

i don't think "most" of them do by a long shot. but it's a moot point, so I will STFU.

Anybody ever find his super raer lp "Requiem For A Harlequin"? Two sides of tripped out dialogue about the streets, whores, and dope supposedly?

I was looking for a pic of him in his old school rhinestone jacket but found this, graemlin-esque picture instead.

I have it. It also has a significant portion of it dedicated to civil rights protests, the riots, and Vietnam War protests. It came with a typewritten lyric sheet, I can throw some quotes up later. Very strange considering his subsequent outputs.

i think you're referring to this:

Various bootlegs by Johnny Rebel have been mistakenly attributed to Coe.

I found this on a website:

In his book, This is...David Allan Coe, Coe says that his mail-order X-rated records weren't meant to represent him as a writer.

which could be revisionist history, but who knows.

Still managed to get some stuff amid holiday chaos:

The Harvey Avernes were sketchy eBay buys - both kinda rough shape,
although "Brotherhood" plays really well just has a ganked cover,
and is a seriously fantastic album. Got 'em both together for less than
one would normally go for, so I won't squawk about condition.

Finding the Laura Lee LP on Chess in a local spot made my week.
    Absolutely killer material.

Tons of 45's, too - best of the bunch:

The flip of Donald Height is what's really, and both sides
of the Mighty Hannibal are hot like fire. Nightcrawlers is
a long-time want, and Eddie Long is a version of a track I
have by BOBBY Long on Vegas in a totally different version -
this one with double-tracked vocals and horns, not on the Vegas 45.
Both versions are dope, and I was psyched to find this, as the
Bobby Long has been one of my favorite tracks for years.

  • nice score w/ the culture club
straight fire & is gettin scarcer by the day

So that the album on the old world of beats wall in between the Baltik and the Jackie Robinson...
