I'm thinking of going back to Mexico this summer for 6 weeks but wanted to fly via an Esatern US city. Can anyone recommend any cities that are both interesting as far as record stores go and have plenty to see and do, and yes I know there are no records in the US!!

    Also, I've not been to Mexico for around 10 years. Previously we I went places like Playa Del carmen were quiet, beautiful places. Does anyone know what they are like now? Are they over run? Thanks

    Playa and the surrounding areas are now SHOT due to overwhelming commercialism (2 fuckin' Haagen Dazs stores on 1 block???!!!!???) GAP reigns supreme. Unfortunately this beautiful area has been co-opted. Sorry to be a downer, but this really is true....

    Fly into Atlanta. I'll hip you to some places (but won't post them here). Good restaurants all over the place here, too. Not the greatest city for museums and such, however.

    I feared this might be the case with Playa, would you recommend not going now or just not expecting it to be a tropical paradise anymore? Can't be worse than Cancun surely??

    Went to Canada two years ago, just Toronto and Montreal though. Hooked up with Kev and a few others. Some of the best digging I've ever done!
