Hey Ya'll,

I thought about this topic yesterday, but didn't post it. What song, musically-speaking, best captures how you are as a person? I mean, the way the music sounds and the song is arranged.

I'll start. I'd have to say "Come Live with Me, Angel" by Marvin Gaye. I picked this song because it comes across direct, yet is complex, multifaceted, smooth, laid-back, and sensual all at the same time. This song definitely captures my aesthetic perfectly. Please add on, my peoples, I'm curious about the responses.

Peace,

Big Stacks from Kakalak

"I Was Made to Love Her" by Stevie Wonder. I'd like to think my soul would sing like Stevie.

  • I prefer to think that I can't be summed up in a commercially-driven 3-minute blurb.

    Hey,

Call me weird, but music has certain qualities that give it form and expression. I don't see how one who truly feels music would say it doesn't capture parts of them in some way. Certain songs touch different parts of my being, well, differently. The song I mentioned captures many aspects of me simultaneously.

  • Good post. I don't know what I would choose right now. We all listen to music in different ways, so if I were to suggest a song, someone might say "I don't hear or feel anything from that song". I might think it's the best song ever made.

I'd have to come back to this one.

The reason I chose that Stevie Wonder song is because of the absolute joy that song delivers. I'm an optimistic, easy-going, joyful person. I find joy in most everything.

Everytime I hear that song I link it to my cousins and me biking around the neighborhood. I must have heard it in my aunt's house during a particularly happy day.

    Hope that makes sense.

Don't be jealous of my lack of simplicity. I'm a complicated man.

Actually, your unwillingness to engage in this thought experiment makes you a simple man, or at least stubborn.

Possibly. I can't think of a song that really sums me up though, but that could just be that I only listen to hip hop.

  • chages with moods. my all time fav is "at last" etta james.

It captures the "real" me in an utopian world.
But in the "real" world my steez is on some These Are The Last dayz

Although I think that 1 song can't convey my "steez" as you say
