I wouldn't let an ugly and scary woman live with me if she killed mosquitoes and spiders and other shit so why the fuck would I let a spider live with me, too?
when i was little my dad caught a black widow and kept it as a pet on the top of our fridge (ummm... hello?!? earthquake country dad!) anyway, he put it in this HUGE jar where the spider made a home. he used to feed that shit bugs and mice (yeah... small mice). i dont remember what happened to that spider but i used to be bugged (nopun) out by it.
however now i hate spiders... spiders and needles are pretty much the only two things that scare me...
then again... im keeping a pretty big spider in the corner of one of my window frames in the living room... he was feeding on a huge fly the other day...
I live in a half finished basement where spiders are inevitable (as well as those big & obscenely fast house centipedes with their hair-like-legs that eat spiders). Last night I went to grab something from my bathroom and when I turned on the light, noticed an odd dark mass near a pipe. So, in horror movie fashion, I get all up close and investigate. Turns out it was a gigantic wolf spider in post mortem status. I'm not phased since I see spiders now and then and think to myself many happy thoughts as I manuveur his carcass to the trash using tissues. I'm completely done and then notice I'm being watched. Seems Gigantor has some small relatives who've come out to observe. I almost always take spiders and put them outside but there were just too many, so I commenced to slaughter and adjust the population growth. (Yes I felt bad) I finish, walk back to my main room and throw on a record. I head back to the bathroom cause I still needed something and flick on the light. Thinking I had rid my bathroom of it's inhabitants, I was caught totally offgaurd when Gigantors big brother pops out from under the crease of a mat. Ok seriously, he was huge. Thick legged wolf spider with interesting markings and slight hair, maybe 3 inches across from "toe" to "toe". I first sat in awe of his size. Then I tried to decide whether I should attempt to catch him. I didn't have anything at hand that would fit his body, so I knew he must meet his brother. Thus began the chase. This guy was way faster than me, and we both knew it. It took a good 2-3 minutes to finally land a blow and finish him off. I felt bad, but I had no choice.
Personally I'd rather spiders show up than than the giant house centipedes.

this thread is funny, when i was in anaheim a few weeks back, my co-worker and i saw some crazy big spider that caught me off guard and made me yell out. dood is a 44yr old cambodian, that had to quit school in the 3rd grade and attend secret classes at night where rebel teachers would use mango tree trunks as chalkboards with lanterns, so that the U.S. fighter jets passing over didn't lay some more bombs up in their village. when we saw that spider, he started laughing, and asked if big spiders made me scared, which was an obvious answer, and then he replied that the really big ones, like tarantulas, TASTE really good, and that that when he was a kid they'd catch them and and eat them.
on a side note, i picked this up a few years back, burned a copy of it, and brought it in for said dood. after he listened to it he told me that the khmer rouge killed every single person on it in the mid to late 70's... think america's fucked up?
a spider question: Ive had a spiders webb record hanging on the wall for quite some time now, years ago I bought it on a recordfair but wasnt real pleased with it so I hung it on the wall cause the gatefold cover looked real nice, has a spider crawling on a womans hip,... anyways should I pull it down and give it another chance/listen, or leave it hanging ???????

When I was super young I had a nightlight next to my bed. This one night I woke up and there was a spider next to the night light. It made a shadow on the wall of the spider but like a foot big, not something you wanna wake up to. Scared the shit outta me for real.
Also growing up my neighbors across the street had a pet tarantula. It would shed once a month and they kept all the sheddings in trays. They had like a full dresser with at least 50 sheddings. Sikk.

Secondly, I've never seen a bigger bunch of pussies in my life.
We have spiders in the house all day every day and they don't get stomped. Instead they get a nice plastic container escort from yours truly, right out the door so they can catch a mosquito or build a web or whatever.
Man up, folls.
And L*rry:
They even have crayfish in North Carolina. I was down visiting my sister a few years ago and I took my nephews out for a walk. We turned over a rock looking for salamanders and saw a fucking crayfish. It scared the crap out of me. It was small, but it was a crayfish.

No, really, it was a fucking scorpion. I have fished for the mighty crayfish, and boiled him in tribute.... I knows the diff...It was way out in Murphy, where that clinic bomber Eric Rudolph ran off into the woods...
Scorpions in North Carolina Southern Devil Scorpion Unknown to many Western North Carolina residents, there is a species of scorpion that resides in the region. According to Dr. Rudy Hillmann, retired Extension Entomologist from N.C. State University, the type that we have locally is called the Southern Devil Scorpion,Vejovis carolinianus. Little has been written about this species. It is uniformly brown and about one inch in length when fully grown. The reported range of this scorpion in this state is from Lake Hiawasee in Cherokee County, NC to Polk County, NC. However, it has been reported from other areas of the state as well. In addition, we've had numerous reports of other scorpions, particularly the striped bark scorpion, Centruroides vittatus, and Centruroides hentzi which were most likely introduced accidentally in goods moved from their native areas and they are quite likely becoming established in North Carolina.
