Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it?
I've received my pack today and I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. I contacted the seller and we are about to work something out.
Has anyone here ordered a package as well? Are you happy with the stuff you received?

I've thought about it, but never pulled the trigger for fear of ending up disappointed.

What kind of stuff did you get?

Unfortunatly there was nothing in the pack which I was looking for for my personal collection. Rather common records or records which arn't exactly in demand.
Probably some filler stuff, which was sitting in his stock for years. Instead of the described resell value of £10 to £30 each most of them are worth around 5€, according to the going rates on discogs. There were also 7 records missing, out of the promised 100. As they arn't of any use for me I listed them on discogs. I guess most of them won't sell, though. I have little hope to recoup what I paid for.
I contacted the seller and he seems to be a nice chap and quite forthcoming. He offered me to send the remaining 7 records and If I would still be not happy heoffered me a refund. He told me, that the advertised resell value of the records refer to the prices he charged on his website, which differ quite a bit from discogs market value.
I just tried to post a list of the record I received. But somehow the new messageboard won't let me, as the list has too many letters. Therfore I'll split up the list in several posts below.

He claims to have sold 400 packs so far and I'm the first customer who isn't satisfied with the records...
I hope some other buyers will chime in in this thread and report avout the stuff they got.

Yeah, that "sold 400 packs, no complaints" sounds like complete bullshit.

  • So you don't like the records in the pack, the seller has apologised and offered you a full refund, so you put him on blast?

    Strange.
What you received is exactly what I would have expected from the description.

Here is how large scale record sellers work; buy lots of records, list lots of records, the hot stuff sells, the cold stuff sits.
Over the years all kinds of cold stuff eventually sells for 10, but never as fast as it comes in.
All the stuff you listed are good soul records. Good but cold. Because the hot stuff sold long ago.
Worth the 2.50 a disc you paid. Assuming they are in NM condition.

I'll admit that I don't see any 30 records there, but in the 90s I bet he did well selling that kind of stuff.
Hopefully you bought a soul a pack, not funk pack.

Anywho, I feel your pain. Instant common hit record collection. Not the hand picked rare soul records that would take 30 years to find you were hoping for.
Just saying what you got is what I would have expected, which is why I wouldn't have ordered.
Perhaps 400 packs ago there were good things in there.

I learned the hard way too.
I bought a similar blind pack of sealed soul lps years ago. Can't tell you how bad it was. Worse part was I got 100 records, but only 10 different titles.

    Live and learn.

I browsed the inventory first & decided not to purchase based on that.  The 60s stuff seemed a bit better but the 70s & funk stuff was pretty weak.

that list is copy & paste from my discogs listing. Sergeboi, better mind your own buisiness. I'm quite sure you wasted more time trolling  under your fake account on this board than me posting this list.

Even when palmed off such expensive shit? ;-)

  • Personally, I would never buy a "soul pack", just because I hate the idea of not knowing what I'm getting. There's way too many soul records out there that I have no interest in owning. People who sell soul records, especially from the UK, do this for a living. There's no way I would expect to get any $20-$30 or higher records. I saw this soul pack ad on facebook a couple weeks ago and rolled my eyes after reading it. I'm not surprised to hear some complaints about it.

But with that being said, I've bought and traded from Adey Pierce of Silverfox records, the guy who is selling these soul packs. The few times I've dealt with him, I've felt like his grading could have been slightly better, but also from experience, I think that's true with a lot of collectors from the UK. Generally speaking, we tend to grade a little bit better/tighter here in the US. That's really my only gripe with Adey. Otherwise, he's very easy to deal with and a very nice guy. You said he refunded you the money, which I would completely expect from him.

Hey Chris, thanks for sharing your experiences with dealing with Adey. I wouldn't do such a deal again, that's for sure, I paid my dues. He hasn't refunded my yet, as I'm still waiting for the other seven records, that were missing. Depending on what I'll get I will request a refund or not.
Adey told me the 20 - 30£ price tag was referring to UK prices, which are allegedly higher than US prices. But to me this sound like bulshit. Nowadays record selling i a global buisiness and prices don't differ much, wherever you buy.

  • i'm assuming that was the 70s soul pack?

like others said, decent records in there but i wouldn't have wanted to pay 250gbp for the lot....
