    Kingsmen Dazz - Love Design
Invisible Man's Band - Love Has Come, Love Can't Come
    Cerrone - Music Of Life

My question is, what are some good latin-influenced disco tracks (no Candido)?

tracks are not my strong suit, but here are som LPs

Coke Escovedo-basically all his late 70s Mercury LPs
Eddie Palmieri LP on Epic from 1978, Voodoo Macumba I think it's called
King Errison-Have a Nice Day LP
    WAR-Galaxy LP from '77
    Salsoul Orchestra s/t

    Thanks, man!

  • Well, if you like music of life by Cerrone, I would check out the rest of his catalogue. Although music of life rolls by at around 90 bpm, and a lot of Cerrone's other stuff is more on the hi-nrg tip, I would give it a look. Cerrone has many incredible songs, most famous probably being "Give Me Love," and "Supernature."

Some other latin influenced disco songs that I recently picked up are:

Jimmy Castor - (The name is either): "Leroy, Your Mama's Calling You" or "The Return of Leroy" (Larry Levan Mix) This is pretty damn good, and has a funky lyric of "Ya Mama" repeating throughout. Also has a mix of that devil/lucifer track on flipside.

Salsoul Orchestra - Oh I Love it ( Love Break) This is pretty funky. Check out anything by salsoul orchestra or for that matter on the salsoul label.

Sesso Matto - Sesso Matto. I think this was music was for an Italian porno. The name literally translates as "sex mad," which probably means either "sex-crazy" or simply "crazy sex." Most heads will recognize this.

Hope that helps. I've got many crates of disco 12s....

Sex Madness, I believe? Hence Cibo Matto = Food Madness (they got their name from Sesso Matto)

  • There are some great latin hustle tracks on Louie Ramirez "A Different Shade Of Black" (I think that's the title?) on Cotique. Of course Eddie Drennon's LP on Friends & Co

'Sesso Matto' is basically a cover/rip of 'Soul Makossa' isn't it??

can't quite understand why this is/was such a pricey twelve...

can't quite understand why this is/was such a pricey twelve...

it's the first release on a classic label, longer version than anywhere else, has an old school break, appeals to many different types of collectors and has been hard to turn up for ages.

is there an earlier Italian 12" of it?

no, just the italian soundtrack album and a 7" (french i think).

    This may be obvious, but

    ANother Star - Stevie Wonder

was there ever a 12 for this?

    there's an UK 12", but it's recent.

i've heard rumours of a vintage one as well, but i'll only believe it when i see it.

  • This is a really good thread....There goes my paycheck.

...and it sounds exactly the same as the other Miton Hmilton jam off the LP (there's a 12 and 45, too).

Think you're talking about Jimmy Sabater.
    Either `Gusto` or `Hijo de Theresa`.

"parar" and "detener" are both words for stop. Parar is the one you would use more frequently when talking about yourself ie "Me voy a parar en este bar para una Tecate." Detener would be used beter when someone is stopping you, like the cops. "Despues de ser detenido por los traficantes, el joven contunio en su ruta." and then there's "alto" which is the comand for stop. Great thread by the way. Latin disco is the shit, I can't think of any titles of the top of my head right now...

that is a good lp, fronch house sampres laaar!

but yeah love supreme does sound the same tonally as the yambu.

  • My dad played guitar on this album. Mad wah wah, Mexican disco. It's a little cheezy but seriously tight musically. A source of many a disco sample for me. Good luck finding it.
