Columbia GP-3 - batteries VS electricity

My portable GP-3 turntable sounds great when it's plugged in to the wall, but when it plays using batteries, it sounds awful. Just a bunch of static with little accented static burps on the snare drums. Has anyone else had this problem? The D (muthafucka, D!) batteries in it aren't that old.

  • I never noticed a difference between the two. I'm gonna run a little "controlled test" and let you know my findings

  • Batteries supply electricity.

Seriously, look it up. They don't supply energy juice or anything like that. They supply electricity.

sounds like youre not getting grounded power from the batteries. try moving around the order and some other batteries. if it's not that, then there's probably a little wire that needs to be resoldered to the connection

Also clean the contacts and rebend them so they are making a solid connection.
