I demand Killarmy performing...um...you know...whatever the fuck that record of theirs was.

Lineup is insane, but they always book at huge venues and amphitheaters. For the bay it's at the Shoreline and I just don't get how you can get into a hop hop show sitting on the grass a mile away from the stage.

So you guys would rather see these groups perform their "new joints?" Or "How I Could Just Kill A Man 2011?" Or would you prefer they just go away? Is UPS hiring?

I probably won't go to this 'cause huge crowds make me anxious, but I'm happy as hell that the idols I grew up with are able to perform their classics to a sold out audience some 15-20 years after the fact.

On a somewhat related now, Earth Wind & Fire is playing the local casino this week. It's walking distance from my house. Should I go?

I'm gonna back away from my customary snark for a moment and agree with this. Personally, I have no interest in attending this show for the reasons Maru and Herm already mentioned, but I do think it's very cool that these groups can still get up and rock old material in front of an audience that's excited to see them do just that.

You would think that with this interest shown in their "classic" material, it would encourage them to make something new that is both similar in execution but currently relevant.

Or is this like the art laboe of hip hop now. or freestyle
    Jam.

If I wanted to go to a museum, I'd go to a museum.

In fact, they might as well open a wax museum where you can hear such albums performed in their entirety any day of the week.

Oh yeah, they already have. It's called: The LP.

No gray hairs nor missing group members/guests at The LP.

I was just taking the piss as they say across the pond. But in all honesty I'm not interested in seeing Black Moon doing "Buc Em Down" or Cypress Hill getting into "Hits from the Bong" in 2011. I'm not saying they should retire either, but when you have a tour headlined by nostalgia acts, it feels like a total cash in/cop out, they are joining the REO Speedwagons of the world.
I like most of those albums on their own, but like Harvey said, I can just listen to the albums. Or even better like 4YG said, the interest in their classics should inspire them to make relevant music based on the platforms that originally made them great.

rap shows in general (unless i like new songs or it has a live band) are hard for me to go to anymore
i am burnt out on this shit and the hype man scream/muffled verses/half a verse song switch is tiresome
I would love to go see freeway in concert though

i had all but given up on hip hop shows for these exact reasons, but two years ago i got tickets to the GZA doing 'liquid swords' in it's entirety and it more than confirmed all of my thoughts. miserable experience. forgetting words, trying to other members verses, sitting down for half the show, taking ten minute braeks.....

a year later, i was walking past yonge/dundas square (outdoor toronto venue) and he was doing a free show with king khan and the shrines and the cool kids and it was more of the same yawnfest.

(cool kids were still new/hungry enough to put on a halfway decent show)

wow i was going to say that the last show i considered was that GZA show
    glad i did not go
i got free tickets for akhenaton (french rap legend) hopefully he will change my mind

Back when I was a kid I saw lots of legends who were decades past their prime.
I wasn't around and hanging out at the Apollo or Beale Street when they were in their prime.
So for me it was a thrill, and I saw lots of great shows, and a few that were cool, because hey it's Lightnin' Hopkins! even thought he was barely a live.

So yeah, for all you old guys here who saw GZA before and after Liquid Swords dropped, skip it.
But for people who weren't born back then this could be a big deal.

Ive never seen a bangin Hip Hop arena show.

My best EXPs are in medium to small venues. Ballrooms, High school gyms and shit.

Has anyone seen a great live show with a large ass outdoor 'woodstock' type crowd?

I saw Soundgarden and Metallica kill it one year at Lollapalooza. Unless you meant hip hop acts. Can't say I've seen that.
