that said, if you like loud minority, etc. i would recommend these titles:
hal galper- wild bird
curtis fuller- smokin'
mike longo- awakening
david young- ST
jay berliner - bananas are not created equal
dave hubbard- ST
roy haynes- senyah and hip ensemble
sonny red- ST
john white-ST
pete yellin-dance of allegra
blue mitchell- ST (aka soul village)
charles kynard- ST and Woga
johnny coles-katumbo
harold land- a new shade of blue (w/bobby hutcherson)
alice clarke-ST (one of the harder titles to come by)
jack wilkins- windows (also a hard pull)
Barry Miles : Scatbird
Mike Longo: Matrix
listened those. all very good to excellent
that is the labels best output by far..
Bohemian Vendetta
The Orient Express
Stone Circus
Also Growing Concern, Josefus, and Tiffany Shade.
They also did the MEV/AMM split "Live Electronic Music Improvised" which is a landmark.
+ Lincoln St. Exit
Ernie Wilkins Big Band - Hard Mother Blues
and
much more difficult to find records on the latter. i havent even seen any of those joints you posted tom.
lacewing is okay i guess.
on the tepid jazzfunk label, dont sleep on the already mentioned jay berliner and bobby shad...i remember liking those a lot
I'd like to hear that Mauricio Smith.
Didn't see this one mentioned though:
10th Victim OST by Piero Piccioni. Sleazy, organ-driven lounge jazz.
i could have sworn there was a joint from that orient express on AEIOUII... "Cobra Fever"
if not, it should have been
daaaaam...i like a lot!
nope...it wasnt on there tho
