I remember buying an older Aretha Franklin LP when I was eight years old. Some of the covers on the Atlantic innersleeve looked downright startling to me, for some odd reason:
Freaked me out as a kid. Now I think it just looks tacky.
P Brothers was DJ:ing in a friends club in my hometown some years ago, and told us what to look for on record covers - Big faces, men with hats, men on horses, fire, silver, and "people doing things in fields that you don't normally see people doing in fields" - referring to this album. Basically, if a record has somebody doing something weird in a field on the cover, you KNOW there's a break on it.
Always thought this cover was kind of eerie:
nah....Ross the boss from the dictators is in this band...tongues planted firmly in cheeks, they know they look ridiculous.Manowar has always been a self parody...

Tbose inner sleeves were once guides to see what may or may not be cool, just by looking at the cover. "Complete an Embryo Records discography? Sure!"
True nightmare potential.
