Here and there. In the summertime its gets frequent. It's not like it used to be though.
True that. It depends though.
I was back up on my old block of University & Kingsbridge recently, and I tried to roll down to Creston for old times sake. The homie was like "It's a lot worse down there now. Mad shootouts."
funny this post originated with a richmonder. that was the gunfireinest place i ever lived. I used to stay on Broad st. across from Chucky's Place and The Palace. Saw 3 seperate shootings out my window. One of which was a pretty gruesome murder. I'd hear shots from Jackson Ward and Carver all night. I hear it's chilled out a little. Hopewell is Whilin still i'm sure.

The murders are supposedly down this year. I guess motherfuckers here can't shoot straight because they sure as hell shoot a lot.
Two weekends ago a guy was shot at the popeyes half a block from my house.
Yo, If that is the same popeyes Im thinking of, I live like seven blocks north of you on Mason near 7th. I heard some rounds go off just last night.
It happens at least once every other month or so....somewhat regular. I imagine they are usually closer to Union. I have had to take detours home several times when driving home @ 3:30 am. Whenever I see a large mob in the street at that time of night I usually try to go the other way.
Im still waiting for something to happen across the street, we have some new neighbors who are doing business at all hours of the day and night. Never the same car in front etc.. etc.. Just waiting, I know it will happen eventually but what can you do?
To be honest, it can be hard to distinguish between gunshots and firecrackers when it's more than a block or two away, but there's clearly a lot of both going on.
i've lived in the same spot for a long time It used to be every other day or so, with about 4-6 different incidents on the weekends now its like, maybe a few times a year at most (not counting NYE, cinco de mayo, or 16 de septiembre)
Most of you sound like youre living in Iraq. My country is a peaceful place I hear gunshots a least once a week,i dont take notice unless its a hour long barrage of automatic gunfire or if the gun is pointing and firing in my direction which has been the case twice in my lifetime so far.

I live about 65 blocks from Alice and Wu. If I hear gunshots I almost always assume they are fireworks. Fireworks are about non-stop from June to New Years around here. I hate fireworks.
Only thing legal around here sparklers. So neighbor is firing off cherry bombs. so I call the cops. We don't enforce or respond to firework violations I was told. Who does? Fire Dept? Nobody. Shouldn't complain, better than guns.

Which one of these ain't like the others? Hint it's a major industrialized country where Vodka is not served for breakfast.

That's the one. I don't know how long you've lived round here but things used to be a lot more hectic. Irving Park was wilin' in the summer back in the day. Calling MLK Union shows some old school portland knowledge.
Fuck, get your neighbors together and harass those fucking dealers or their landlord tell they leave. Fuck a slanger on my block.
I have heard gunshots in various parts of Berkeley, Oakland, and NYC.
I think if you live in a big American city it's something you hear from time to time. I live in a pretty gentrified neighborhood, where renovated apartments rent for 2-3k a month, yet one of the kids from the projects got shot across the street from my building a few months back.
Living in Bushwick back in the early 90's it was pretty much a daily thing. Then I moved to Williamsburg in 93, and it was still pretty frequent where I lived down by the Bridge. As W-burg gentrified it got less and less, to the point that when I moved out in '05 it was very rare. Since I bought my place out in Queens I've heard it once or twice in 2 years, and a clerk in the Wonder Bread outlet around the corer got shot and killed in a robbery.
I am very cool with not hearing gunfire anymore, it adds nothing to my enjoyment of life, or gangsta records.
i used to live right by the CNE grounds - which are basically Toronto's city fairgrounds and there were/are fireworks competitions regularly for about a month in the summer and all the usual suspect holidays...the sound was horrible, like non-stop bombing.
i haven't heard gunshots since i was a kid...from what i remember, gunclap is a very accurate word.
10/12 times in all my life, here, in the North suburb of Paris. Last year a dude from the block killed his entire familly, one of 'em died under my window.

Lotsa guns....very few murders.

Me neither. Until a year ago. It's getting less

Except for the one time near my friend's place at Stoner Park when I was small.
HAHAHAHA
Are you out? Welcome home.
Atlantic City now?

I'll be back in NJ in March '08.
People with weekly/daily gunfire, where do you all live?
How often do you SEE shots being fired?

This is sad, I mean how much could you possibly get from a bread outlet. Nothing costs more then $2.

Every time I think of my father.

Damn, hard as f*ck!
which suburb? i lived briefly in St-Ouen...
