It seems like there's always some boogie being mentioned in the soul and disco threads so lets get a seperate thread for this. I'm not sure if there already was one? So what is the best/your favourite boogie albums or just dope LPs that you think are worthy of mention?I'll start with these.

if it were as plentiful as Kashif or Cheryl Lynn people would consider it a plague more than a "find"
Carl Carlton's S/T is great and always cheap
Howard Johnsons 1982 LP is also worth every penny it gets
I'm not familiar with Blue Feather, can you provide a little backgrond or a soundclip?
Here's some favorites that have a least a little boogie in 'em:
SG
As for Trilark I can only say; luckily people have different tastes. Its a pretty expensive lp but I think that its high quality also.
Blue Feather is a Euro LP. I can't record sound cause my sound card burnt out but I'm sure you can find some sound files thorugh google as its been reissued.
I am convinced that this record does not exist...Is this the one with "let's funk tonight" and "let it out"? I believe I have all the mp3's...every track is a banger.
these are both amazing as well...
It doesn't have those tracks. It's on injection released in Holland. I could imagine that it wouldn't be favourite in here with a lot of people.
There's also this one which have been mentioned before.
Anyone heard these how do you feel about them?
Snapp 1 on Beat Street
Selection - Same on Ariola
is this the one with "Got To Be Real"?
"DJ's Delight" is an all-time favorite of mine, but I've only got it on the Streetwave 12" b/w "Smoothin' Groovin'". Is the rest of the LP of the same caliber?
It's actually originally released on Full Time in Italy. I must have seen some foreign pressing. Don't know about that track. Is was just wondering if it was good as whole as I've not heard much from it.
The other tracks are a bit more soulful and mellow. Its definitely an LP that I appreciate in this style. I remember liking the two first tracks on each side.
ps. hope you liked the lps that you got last time.
I needs to "mint up" my copy.
I most certainly did. Eddie Fisher is on the turntable this very minute.
I love the whole LP, it's a great album. Check out the track "We Like To Do It" :

How is that LP? Is it similar to the other one?
Here are my recommendations:
I like it more than the 1st one...more electrified/funky production, and the songs are more upbeat. It features another, better version of "Face on a Photograph," which was also on the debut album. It also has a beautiful, Yacht Soul track on it called "A Place In My Heart"...one of my favorite albums.
"Out In The Night" track from the Ponsar album is killer.
I've been searching for that Skwares album for a long time. VERY envious!
SG
They have at least 6 dope records, and unlike most above they're not hard to find...
I've checked out that Sunrize record a couple times and never thought it was worth getting?
I was told Howard Johnson was more about the 12" than the LP, don't think I've ever checked the latter... is it worth getting if I have the 12?
Diffrnt Strokes, I guess. All I know is that 80% of the album has been on heavy rotation in my car for the past 6 months.
SG
The whole LP is great, but it's pretty rare like most Full Time stuff My favourite track is "Rebel On The Run":
That's his 2nd LP from 1983. As far as I know it was only released in Europe ( I got a dutch pressing on the Injection label). I've also seen other pressings with a different cover...The sound is a bit more electronic than on his previous works (vocoder), check out "You Know I Like It"

and "Straight Ahead":

Seems like more of a Euro term.
Yeah or neah?
I am not a DJ so when I get a modern osul album it is for multiple tracks nt the one that bumps the most. The Howard Johnson LP is great all the way through, nice dancable tracks as well as some gerat solid soul. If I had to choose between the 12" for myself or the full length I'd grab the full length without hesitation.
i know straight ahead...that's on a prelude 12". that lp isn't on prelude is it? maybe it's on epic.
do you have his first 12"..."a walk in the park"?
Right up my alley. I'm copping the album when I see it. Thanks for posting that.
On another note, I've got a question for the moder/boogie heads. I've got this Rams Horn comp with a killer track called "Why You Wanna Treat Me Like That" by Netwerk. I can see from the sleeve that it's also on a RH 12". A quick poopsike search reveals some $$$ auctions for that 12", so I gather it's pretty rare.
What label did it come out on in the US, if ever, and is there a whole LP by this group? I think someone told me that there does exist a Euro-only LP, but I could be mistaken.
Here's an mp3 of the track:
Netwerk - "Why You Wanna Treat Me Like That"
Yeah the 12" is on Prelude and was released in the US. The whole LP however was only released in Europe I think.
A friend of mine got this one, it's the same LP on a different label with a different cover:

I don't know if an Epic pressing of this LP exists. No I don't got the 12" of "A Walk In The Park". But I'm gonna get that soon, it's a pretty good disco tune + it's always cheap. Do you know the whole LP? I think it's more disco than the other two...
What about this? Do you know that one?

Yes there is a whole LP from 1984, it's called "I Need You". I think it was only released as a Rams Horn pressing:

It has already been reissued with a different cover. Howard King from Mtume plays the drums on this one. It's a killer LP, my favourite track is "Pump It Up":

A friend told me it was released and then quickly withdrawn for some reason. I don't know if that is true, but it would explain why it never shows up..
