Yes yes, two killers on the private pressed Ninth Note label outta Minnesota.Bobby Jackon owned the late "Cafe Extraordinary" jazz club back in the days, obviously earned enough loot to press two records of his own ensemble. Two records and one seven inch. There might be more?If anyone on this board went to his club or know anything more I would like to know all about it I've had dreams about this type of jazz. Even though they are recorded 7 years apart, the diversity in the music says a lot about the musicianship involved.Bobby Jackson's Undercurrent Extra Ordinairy ninth note 1970http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=61A758597D647237Bobby Jackson's Desiree song ninth note 1977http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=8C008285477FE824have fun!

Holy Shit that Desiree Song is superb. Thanks for this teddyrosso.

  • Yeah desiree song is pretty amazing for 1977, no? On extra-ordainary the group has more visible bop influences, they swing, but on desiree song they loose some of that and the result is gorgeous and spacious jazz of the highest order. Sublime with rhodes all over the place. If I had my shit together this is the kind of thing I would reissue.

I got a rip of desiree song from a friend of mine a while back, and finally found a copy for a reasonable price from none other than anthonypearson, or perhaps anthonypearson2.

  • I included a cut from this LP in a mix I did for DJ History a couple of years back. Very cool LP.
