40 oz for breakfast and swan lake by blackalicious...some of that early funky porcini stuff (the one with the sample "it's a long road, theres no turning back")....then a mid 90's downtempotriphopwhatevertrack by danny breaks which I can#'t remember the name of but the rapper is going somethign like "this groove flows like the earth on a axis, with a style that's smoove as the wax is" and some headhunters drums programmed...it was on an ugly triphopsampler...oh, and definitely "go sheep" by Gescom (Autechre related) on Clear Records. That one is still plus shitloads of others of course...

This is where I'll venture into electronic music: "Too Many Mornings" by the chemical brothers is like snorting hot-buttered prozac with a liqui-morphine center.

The entire Silhouette Brown set. That would make a hyperactive brat with a gallon of "Fat" Coca-Cola injected into his jugular go and curl up in the foetal position and flatline for 'nuff hours.

I tried listening to this whilst running and I swear I had to FFWD it after about 2 and one half inches of forward motion.

The riot police should use it.

  • I agree with a few already mentioned, namely "Electric Relaxation", and somebody mentioned Digable Planets but specifically I'd say "Where I'm From". A couple of my own personal choices that haven't been mentioned yet:

    ATCQ - Bonita Applebum
    Warren G - This D.J.
The Roots - Silent Treatment (somebody might've already mentioned this, I forget)
    Digital Underground - Sex Packets
D'Angelo - Brown Sugar (I dunno if this counts as hiphop, but it was produced by a hiphop producer)
    LL Cool J - All I Have
    LL Cool J - Hush
    Murder Inc - Down 4 U

The last three are songs that I tried not to like but the beats sucked me in.

The new LP of "Cool Calm Pete" on Def Jux is one of the relaxingest records I heard in a long time.
