No disrespect to anyone invloved, but I've never gotten into the U-Sound thing - never quite there for me. It's like after-the-fact reggae.

    Sweet.

Dave Barker made numerous killer soul/reggae tracks in the late 60's. This one with Alton Ellis is one of the best.

    Soulful

    Funky.

The first dancehall DJ and JAckie Mittoo get down and "Do The Moonwalk".

    Jazzy.

    Dubby

    Disco-y.

    Breakbeat-y

    Wailers-related.

    Just plain tough

    K in Canada.

  • yo K, you're always on the reggae tip here, nuff respect due. I do like some On-U stuff but they can be overrated...some of the Singers and Players sessions in the early 90s with Congo Ashanti Roy is pretty tight. Anyways an inspiring post so I'll add a few to the list...

on the 'heavenless' riddim from bobby konders label. smoking anthem.

    classic bumpin' Dennis Brown chune.

slightly schmaltzy but still dope reggae version of the horace silver classic.

this is my shit. Best piano solo in reggae. Gladstone Anderson I believe.

Soulful, great track. You can find it on the 'Darker Then Blue' comp that blood and fire did.

Killing version. Glad to catch it cos it isn't getting any cheaper.

great recent roots track. Kills reggae headz.

'Walkin down the road, with a rachet in your waist, johnny you're too bad...oooh oooooh...'

    $??

Will do. Believe or not, but a fellow reggae DJ gave that to me as a birthday present - said it was my sound.

I sold you one of these, didn't I?

Thanks for the kudos SC, K.
