Immature, I know...but over the years I've heard a fuck load of terms for weed and some are incredibly regional. I'm not even referring to the strains.

In my experience, I've heard two different classes of slang. One type of slang is simply what people call weed in that area and the other type of slang is "a name we are giving to this weed to try and make this low-mid grade shit sound cooler and thus charge more"....

Ok...in no particular order here are some that come to mind at the moment.

General Slang
Weed
Green/Verde
Marley
Spice
Izzum
Purp (questionable)
Reefer
Sosh

Terms applied to shitty bud that you are going to pay too much for
AZ
Exotic
Lime
Baby'dro (shitty weed you are about to pay too much for)
Wizard
Christmas bud

Fuck, it's too early...mind can't compute. There are so many more. Would love to hear some regional ones from fellow strutteurs...

Btw, Duderonomy this topic popped into my head after your comment/vid regarding piff from the 'drunk poast' thread. I wanted to comment in there but, alas, I am no longer drunk...I think.

Apparently he still slays, I gotta see him before one of us dies. Other legends that I've seen in the past 8 yrs or so that never disappoint:

Hancock (with Wayne Shorter and Dave Holland and a great drummer) Top Show lost my mind good
Sonny Rollins
Ornette Coleman... amazing super crazy humble dude

who else is still producing great shows? Does Eddie Henderson play? Bobbi Humphrey? Hugh Masekela? A lot of people have dropped off in recent years. What about Europeans? ( I saw Doldinger by chance in Berlin this june, 15 minutes was just the right amount of Klaus... though they still played well) Brasillians?

Review by Scott Yanow
This LP is one of tenor-saxophonist Pharoah Sanders's lesser efforts. Sanders actually only plays tenor on one song ("Went Like It Came"), otherwise jamming on soprano and taking some spirited vocals. Very much a hodge-podge collection with performances taken from three different settings, best is Sanders's heartfelt "Memories of Lee Morgan." But there are many more significant Pharoah Sanders records than this one.

One of the greatest I ever got to see play the game...his raw talent was next next level...watched him lead Providence to a Final Four....watched him in his prime in the ABA of which there is unfortuntaely very little video....his life was a circus...here are some examples

Barnes had earned the nickname ???Bad News??? for some of his off the court actions. Barnes once robbed a liquor store in broad daylight. If a being a 6???9??? Black male didn???t make Barnes stick out enough ??? the fact that he was wearing a basketball jersey with his name on the back was the clincher.

Teammates try to awaken Barnes to keep him from missing a team flight, Barnes snaps back, ???News will catch a later flight!??? Five minutes before tip-off the locker room door swings open and there???s Barnes in a full length mink coat, Big Mac in hand with just his uniform on underneath. Upon entering he bellows out, ???Have no fear??? Bad News is here!???
For the record he dropped 44 points that night.

My favorite Barnes story involves a road trip where the team is flying from Louisville to St. Louis. The flight leaves Louisville at 11am and is scheduled to arrive in St. Louis at 11am. Upon reading the flight itinerary Barnes becomes confused and asks how can this be, someone breaks down the time zones and how St. Louis is an hour behind Louisville. Barnes says that they can cancel his ticket because ???I ain???t gettin??? on no time machine!???

The Spirits has lost six straight to the Nets, but that didn???t seem to bother the rookie, as he went on to write this poem:
There once was a doctor named Erving,
Whose slam dunks were especially unnerving,
But when Marvin gets movin???,
And the crowd gets to groovin???,
For the doctor a hospital bed they???ll be reserving.

He recalls in graphic detail an incident that occurred of all places on the team bench while spending a season in Boston:
???I remember this one game, I was sitting at the end of the bench,??? he recalled. ???I had a towel over my head and I was snorting coke and my nose was bleeding. Don Chaney and Nate Archibald moved all the way up to the front and I had four or five seats between me and the next player. I was snorting coke and it was tearing my membranes up. Snorting it and blowing my nose. It was like my brains were coming out in the towel and I couldn???t stop snorting it anyway. It was terrible, man. I was addicted.???

I do not own the original vinyl of Eddie Palmieri's Unfinished Masterpiece and recently felt a need to get Oyelo Que Te Conviene on CD after watching Magna Gopal dance to it. Due to the mess with the Fania catalogue rights I could not find a full album reissue at a decent price and ended up buying the Nascente Dbl CD compilation "Salsa Brothers" (Eddie Palmieri & Charlie).
The track selection is good but especially on Oyelo Que Te Conviene and Cobarde (both from Unfinished Masterpiece) the sound quality is horrible. Have they messed up when they reissued this or do the originals sound poor as well? Didn't this album win a Grammy when it came out?

Back in July I spotted the 5CD Album Collection by Change on Fonte Records for only ??10.81 being offered by a Amazon.co.uk marketplace dealer called booklore. I ordered it but received an order cancellation the next day "due to a pricing error".
Last week I was going through recent orders and left a 2-star feedback for them. Within a day I received a message asking me to remove my feedback and offering me the box set at the original price, explicitly pointing out that they would loose money on this. I was a bit suspicious as booklore had not been listing the item in the previous weeks at all (there had only been one other seller on amazon.co.uk continuously offering it for ??99) But I accepted the offer and we agreed that booklore would relist the CD the following evening at 11PM my (UK) time which was supposedly their (US) afternoon. The box set indeed appeared at the agreed time and I placed my order again at ??10.81.
Yesterday I received the shipment with the correct item in excellent condition. However, the real surprise was the shipping paperwork. This was actually not my order but theirs which they placed on amazon.fr with Discadelic (the Amazon id of Crocodisc) in Paris using my shipping address for their order. The [economic] killer though is that they paid ???55 + shipping for it. That's a net loss of almost ??40 for them (??10.81 minus Amazon's fees = their revenue VS ???58.40 = their cost for the item), just to get rid of one 2-star review. Crazy.

Hi,
maybe someone can help me out. An 80.- Euro record that was advertised as near Mint turned out to have 3 very tiny marks that click/pop very very loud for 2 to 5 rotations. One of them you can easily see, the other ones are very tiny and hard to spot. The bigger mark is clearly not a pressing issue, the other 2 i don??t know but the sound they make is most likely not. The rest of the record is really clean but these 3 marks, that make it unenjoyable for me, because the clicks are so loud, obviously keep it from being NM. I want to leave feedback stating the grade it was sent to me. How would that be expertly graded? Thanks for any help.

j
