Raj rules everything around me. I may come and go from the boards, but I am Soul Strut for life.

50 Foot Hose has some great stuff going on. I'll agree the electronics don't live up to their billing or potential, but I think it's above run-of-the-mill. pretty atmospheric and dark.

poster insert rules. one of the only LPs I've bought from Craig Moerer, I decided it was worth spending a little to get a copy with the insert and without the almost universal ringwear. hard filed.

Pattrick said:As a regular on Very Good Plus and an intermittent Waxidermy poster I've known about Soul Strut for years but never got round to checking it out. It seemed to have a reputation for being 'Yo Bro' and like the good Reverend 'I Aint In…

Still looking for this, 2 years later. Haven't even had a sniff of it.

this has to be the most nitpicked movie of the last decade. I don't know what people wanted from it, but it sure seems like most of you weren't satisfied. Me, I'm with awwwdamn and thought it was interesting, entertaining, and a fine 2 hours at the …

My only disappointment with the finale was that this season didn't really start to get good until the second half, and just as it finally had me engaged, it was all over. also, seeing Gilmore Girl in vintage lingerie made this episode Top Fi…

all from In Your Ear this afternoon. I moved this past week (!!!) and dropped off like 8 boxes of LPs, crates of 45s, and around 200 CDs. went in today and grabbed a nice bit of cash split with a fat knot of credit I started working on immediately .…

Winter in America is one of those LPs where posting Popsike results is irrelevant, at least if you live in any kind of somewhat urban united states area whatsoever. I see that record everywhere around Boston, and even the most notorious pipe dream p…

I used to like that song with PE on Cinderella Theory, I liked it enough to hold on to the cd for years ... but I can't even remember what it sounds like now.

yeah the Crosby is a custom job. always gets a weird reaction when worn. people want to fight me. even more than usual.

all bought or traded for in my front yard today. drank beer and talked records with hundreds of people. BOSTON KNOWS HOW TO PARTY ... WITH RECORDS

This is tomorrow. Anyone on Soul Strut care?

haha, OK, Soul Strut be that way if you want. kinda makes me sad cause the first one of these I did 5 years ago was pretty much a Strut event, and one of the first times I met and hung with Strut cats. So maybe you are lurking but wanna come out, ju…

Sorry, that was my fault.

I have to say, I never expected Soul Strut to be so uptight about technical playing. Don't get me wrong, JB can be atrocious on the organ, but I absolutely love shit like "Shhh ... " and the entire "Sho is Funky Down Here" album ... the weird organ …

He joined the MG's in '64, and was there from Otis Redding's first sessions for Stax right through the end of the decade. To hear a great version of Green Onions with him on it, check the MG's & Mar-Keys "Back to Back" LP, recorded before…

wow, if a thread about Duck Dunn passing away only gets 10 posts on Soul Strut, it might be time to turn off the lights and lock the door behind us.
-
I think it sounds best on Sho Is Funky Down Here, though it is definitely his same wanky style, maybe even more so. but it just sounds so perfect to me in it's madness.

oh man, there's no you tube clip, but put on "So Glad to Have You" from the Shirley Brown Woman to Woman LP and just listen to this man do his thing. a legend. the MG's are, if nothing else, the coolest band of all time. and they are of course much …

Played this tape around 12-15 times a day, every day, for months in 93. It was like there were no other albums.

local yard sale score. bunch of crust punks, was expecting punk records but this is stuff their landlord "donated" for the sale. Latin titles are pretty whipped on the vinyl but I wasn't passing up gold label mono El Malo for $1 ... so far w…

I'm honestly curious what we are supposed to hate in that "HIPSTER LEVEL LONDON" pic? maybe I'm missing something, but you could have had pretty much that same photo of me on a couple of occasions when I went out somewhere and bought stuff wi…
